Calls From The Führerbunker

I would go with a grey shade and a bit of shadow at 5 o clock. Shadow at 11 o clock looks strange.
I think the color compromises or even damages the black and white mood.

No can do. Grey, white and black are very difficult to read during certain scenes where the surroundings are similar. I tried them. It may work for that one frame, but it won't work throughout the film. :(

Not to beat this to death, but I still think a nice bright yellow is the best way to go. I personally don't think that a bright tone will hurt the theme of the film, it just makes the subtitles easier to read.

It may sound like blasphemy,
but have you ever thought about placing the subtitles into the lower black bar?

Strongly disagree. Nothing too bright or harsh. You want people to be able to read it but it shouldn't become a distraction. I'll find a good middle road.

Still messing with the subtitles. Never realized how critical they are. The look, pacing, etc...

Threw Herman and Rutger a curve ball* as well.
I made a bit of a change to a sequence around the middle of the movie.
I really hope that it doesn't cause them too much last minute grief as I really prefer it. Fingers crossed!

There will be no more changes from here on in for sure. We're getting too close.
I know they plan on doing the 5.1 mix in 4 days or so...

I can't wait to hear what they come up with!

* No pun intended towards the required element. :)

Good luck with the subtitles...I'm curious to see what you do with them since you're looking at them as 'part of the movie' instead of just regular subtitles. I know they have been used in different way in the past...like in the movie 'Crank' the character reads the subtitles to understand what another character is saying. They are even backwards to the viewer of the film.

Yah, they're tricky.

Still playing with them. I want them to be simple, but legible. :)

Every body with "Calls" in your film's title raise the roof!
Cold Calls from the Fuhrerbunker? Can I get a "what what"?

haha Jack!

Just delivered the first draft of the score to Mike, while Rutger is working on sound editing.

You must be very busy this fest - for how many films do you make the score? I am right, I saw your name as the composer at least three times?
