a two hour shoot??? That's possible?

Apparently it is, but only when the actors are well rehearsed, and every camera and lighting setup has been tested and tweaked the day before. My compliments to the crew for pulling it off! ...and of course, just as we were about to shoot their closeups (with dialog) TWO lawn mowers started up across the street. Luckily, we were able to bribe them with bagels and they held off for ten minutes while we got what we needed... whew.

EXCELLENT!!! Can't wait to see some picts! I hope the FF gears worked...

I couldn't finish machining the follow focus for this first shoot. I'll be working like mad this weekend to have it for monday. There was only one focus pull on Friday (on the crane, no less) and Chris did a great job of grabbing the lens barrel on the way down.

A few BTS pics

Like the new rails?

...Still not done.

Today I made gears, tomorrow finish the follow focus, final shot list, food, lighting setup, props, charge batteries, final set dressing.... sleep. No. No time for sleep. :Drogar-Smoke(DBG):

BTS shots look great...must be nice to have a crew that knows what they're doing. Love the crane...and those DIY rails ROCK. They look really solid. Nice job. Looking forward to some grabs from the footage.

Best of luck on Monday...now get that FF done, finalize the shot list, make the food, plan the lighting, gather the props, charge the batteries & dress that set...sleep? ...sleep is for whimps!!!

You rock...now rock this one out!

It's 10:17 pm. The big shooting day is tomorrow. Everything is coming together as planned. The new DIY Follow focus is working great.... Which reminds me.

I would like to declare this production
Most DIY Twilightfest entry

Here's the list of stuff i've made, mostly over the last two months.

1- Spinning GG DOF adapter machined from a solid block of aluminum with Silver Nanotm on-the-fly collimation adjustment, and flip up SLR viewfinder. (not working yet)
2- Machined aluminum rails, with stainless steel rods; built like a truck.
3- Machined aluminum follow-focus with machined plastic gears.
4- Doorway dolly with heavy welded steel frame and skate wheels.
5- 8' aluminum Jib arm
6- Light pins for ceiling mounted lights.
7- A few DIY lights and lots of other little things.

If anyone would like to challenge me at this self-declared title, please do so.

That my friend is dedication! :) Good luck on your shoot tomorrow!

See every time I think I need to save for another pice of equipment I see someone like you and realize that I can trade money for commitment and sweat to get the gear I want. Kudos man because I am both too lazy and too broke to have a kit like that.

The only thing I really really want is a 35 adapter and some lenses. (feel like a kid sitting on santa's lap.)

You're pretty intense. I don't think anyone can challenge that haha. I'm with Mike on this one. I'm far too lazy and broke to have sweet gear like that.

Good luck getting the shots you need! I'm looking forward to seeing what comes out of it.

Yesterday was fantastic! A big success! We got everything we needed. (I hope)
The crew and the actors were amazing. A big THANK YOU to everyone.
The follow focus worked like a charm.
We got about 3 hours of footage.

Now I have to go to my day-job and rest.

Tonight I will post some goodies.

Congratulations on the wrap!!! Great work...if only all of them could be this smooth.
Can't wait to see some grabs.

Thanks!
I still have two more shots to get on the 18th. A little twist. But I need to build some things for it.
Forget I said that....

It is a big relief now that the major production is over. Can't wait to start editing tonight.
