Crazy stunts and inventions from the 1930's

WoW!!!!!!! those inventions as the flying boat are pure scifi!!!! and that man sitting in apile of chairs............they are trully crazy!!!
 
It's really amusing to me to imagine the logic these "inventors" must follow. "How can we achieve flight? I know! Let's wear these here giant wings on our arms and jump off of this cliff. I bet if I flap the wings REAL HARD I'll totally fly!" Or "Let's attach giant wings to my bike. I bet if I petal REAL HARD I'll take off flying!" or perhaps "Let's wear wings and roller shakes. I bet if I flap the wings and skate REAL HARD I'll be soaring through the air in no time!" Lots of giant flapping wings and jumping off of things those "inventors" did. Yeah, those were the days.

[please read my entire post with a classic 1930s metropolitan voice in mind]

I will admit, the boatcopter and the centipede thing were genuinely cool.
 
Nice to know in the days long before YouTube, people did all sorts of STUPID stuff!!!

Well, you don't go from walking to flying without trying a lot of crazy stuff first. It's not like they had the materials we have today to play with. :)

The daredevil stuff is what really got me! :eek:
 
As wild as some of those inventions look now, they all probabaly looked equally silly then ... untill they succeded...
