HVX200's big brother, with 2/3" Lens Mount...Available "soon"!

Looks like that camera can switch between NTSC and PAL, has HD-SDI Out, Genlock, and 6-pin Firewire.

It seems its design (if it ends up like this) would find a spot in between the Varicam and the HVX without affecting the professional use the HVX is finding in the industry. Being a "full size" camera leaves the HVX as the king of tight spots and weird camera moves. However, being that the HVX provides a lot of what the Varicam offers, this camera might end up being dangerously close to the varicam's features and capabilities... ? someone talk about the lenses that would just snap on this camera and compare them to the ones that can be fitter on the Varicam please...

Well, these are fresh news if we can call it so after the recent RED or even the SI offers especially considering what DVCPRO-HD is: taking advantage of an old codec. However, the tapeless P2 is the way. Definitely. Anyway, Congrats and Kudos Pana!

If I could connect the M2 to this I'd be looking to trade my HVX in for it next year.

Why would you want to connect the M2 to something that you can just change the lens on?

Because 2/3" still doesn't deliver 35mm-style depth of field. That's why P+S Technik offers the Pro35 (but, at $27,000, I can certainly understand why someone might be looking for an M2!)

RezFactor, I think your dream camera may have arrived!
YES! You are correct, sir! But . . . just a few months too late! I bought the DSR450 about what, four months ago now? Plus, for about $500 more than an HPX500 (or right around $17,500), I've been hearing about this OTHER HD camera that's been sounding pretty darn neat!

Its intresting that everybody wants 35mm big sensors. For me 2/3 is very perfect, because it gives me enough DOF when I need it and short DOF when I need that.

And which camera are you refering to Rez? By the way, how has the DSR 450 preformed for you ?

Well, RED, of course . . . But I really like my DSR450. I really like its look. I like its sensitivity and its low-noise images. And for an SD camera, it's really very sharp. But had I known that RED would really become a reality (AND be able to mount inexpensive Nikkor lenses), I probably would have waited.

Don't feel bad rezfactor, we are in an age like computers. Our cameras are updating faster then ever.
In a year, we might be upgrading todays purchase. Hopefully we planned better then that, but it's part of our new Computer/Data style Camera's we have these days.
No more 10 year investment. Nor cost! :)
