So this is my first DVXUser Fest entry. I hope it doesn't suck horribly.

Another Chaotic Films entry
I'm also a part of Chaotic Films. We already have a thread up on here. It's "Living in Death." Me and my partner, who is the founder of our crew, each did our own entry.

Day by Day
A man has the unfortunate pleasure of living someone else's life for one day, every day.

Thanks guys. I'm in post as I type. Still need to score it. And it needs to be refined before the final product. Can't wait to see how well it does in the Fest.

The score is done! And the interlacing has been taken care of. I'll put some more grabs up to show the difference when i get around to it. Also have some BTS grabs I'm gonna throw up for the hell of it.

All I need now is the DVX Leader and i think I'll be good to go

So here's a fun story. I get all the kinks worked out, finally get a score, the Leader gets posted...and all my editing programs decided to crash. I can't export the finished product. So I either have to figure out whats wrong and fix it in time, or go to a friend with all my raw footage and start over and hope to some higher power that I cant do it in time.

Awesome luck, you F*@K me again!

Sounds bad...but wait, if you already edited, can't you just c/p project itself+video source on some removable device (USB, external HDD) and re-open it at your friends place?

Sound more logical to find a way to export your project somewhere else, rather than do the editing all over again...

At least, it depends on the software you're using, but then again, if the projects finished, it's a waste to edit it again. I guess.

Hey man, sorry to hear.

Give us some specs and details on what editing program you're using. Mile Bozicevic up there ^ has some good advice.

I see some interlacing as well :)

Hope it turns out! Re-doing stuff is a biatch, and I know from experience (Oh..Just a 5 month project I was working on for a corporate company, and then when getting ready to finish up, I lost it all. No biggie though :))

Good luck,

Robbie

Mile, a brilliant idea! I was so pissed and freaking out I didn't even think about that.

Wow...that makes me feel so much better. I can actually salvage this catastrophe.

So? Did you manage to export it somewhere else?

Or you re-edited eveyrthing and THEN realized where the catch was and fixed your edit system, so we're about to get a two versions of film on fest? :p

Oh god I hate that. It didn't happen in premiere pro did it? That happened to me twice in premiere pro. First it destroyed a commercial project and then I somehow fixed it up (my computer/software, not the project, that was gone) and then it happened again a month later to my one of my shorts. Hence, I switched to mac and fcp. I still have a habit of saving and backing up 3 times over because of my experiences though. Oh the horror. Best of luck getting this out though! If you need any help, drop me a PM, i've salvaged stuff before.

Well...it's official. I'm screwed. Lot of time put into something and I get knocked down at the last leg of the race.

Our friend didn't come through for us, and we didn't mange to fix the problem in time. So we can't enter this time. I guess it wasn't meant to be, we'll definitely get something in next fest though!

Good luck to all you guys who did enter, I can't wait to see some of them.

Thanks to everyone who tried to help out, but it was just out of our control.

Sounds really bad, especially if you already edited all of it...

Too bad, though if you do have that project and video, you can send it to someone who uses the same program or whatever...I mean, too bad to quit if you did almost all the job out there. :/

Am I missing something or are you saying that you're not even trying to trouble shoot the crash problem 5 days out from upload date? Do you not have auto save on? Can you not go to a version 15 or 20 minutes younger than the crashed version? I'm not getting something here.

I know a crash like that can suck the wind out of you but if you've already edited ... I mean there's still time.

Hope you find a way to pull it out. Was looking forward to your first entry.

Well, it's not so much me..I'm probably gonna get shot for saying this haha...but my partner, who also got screwed by the crash, has the editing software and he's our editor, I just oversaw my film and made minor tweaks. So there's really nothing I can do about it. Maybe we can pull it into overhaul this weekend and get the problem fixed. I'll keep you guys posted.

And thanks again for the concern, I wish there was more I could do.
