A-cam dII 'High Definition RAW Format Motion Picture Camera

So, 80 GB for 12 minutes at 25fps, so an hour of footage will be 80 x 5 = 400GB (actually less if you shoot 24pfs).

So, for a typical feature film, it takes 1.6 TB for 4 hours of footage.

Even though the price is reasonable... It's too high for me.

I really hope some local rental houses get these...

Maybe RED will buy Ikonoskop to get rid of them?

Peter

INteresting thought. Red do have some financial clout. Remember when Red launched? A great big imposing red tent. This cam launches to a grey sheet and what looks like a bit of sticky tape making up the name!

Chalk and cheese, but one is owned by a billionaire and the other by two guys with great ideas and probably very little financial backing.

Yet the look on that guys face in the Red T Shirt says an awful lot.

Might be something to consider buying on my side. It's global shutter too. The only think I don't like is that damned 25% tax.

I am never a fan of pre-ordering though.

If you are in the USA you woudn't pay 25% tax. Only Swedish/EU citizens would pay that. You would pay no VAT as you are in the USA.

Import duty....that's another matter.

When i buy from B&H I pay no taxes.....until it arroves in the UK and then I have to pay import duty plus VAT. Still cheaper than buying in the UK though.

Hmm, I might jot them an email.

Any idea if they are coming to the HD Expo NY? If so I might have to go down. I've been debating wether to demo the F35 there, and if this bugger is there - I will definitely attend.

It's hard to beat Scarlet's price & specs. Even with the fixed lens.

This a-cam sounds very interesting but a lot is unclear about it.

1920 x 1080 resolution? RAW? What exactly do these mean here?

What is the actual resolution? Bayer? Mayer? Footage is also necessary. Lots of test footage.

Etc.

A bit pricey too.

And I think Uncompressed RAW from Scarlet won't be very hard to enable in the camera. It should be even easier for the hardware, because no compression happens.

But storage will be tough. Uncompressed 3K RAW.... 120 fps ... Big.

But we're in wonderland already. :)

Good to be alive... and waiting...
