Suggestions for Workflow with only one card

So, my company is not going to buy me another card and I hate having to use tape when P2 is available. So, my question is... is there any way to get any sort of workflow with only one card for live events? If I am on set, I guess I will just use a duel adapter to my macbook pro and dump the card and reload, but for times when I can't call "cut" is there anything I can do?

Get a 4 gig card and use that while you dump your other card. You should be able to find one for under $200 easy, and if they can't afford that after shelling out $5,000 for the camera, then something's wrong!

There's firewire streaming options available too, but that's a whole other ballgame.
 
yeah, i thought about the firewire streaming, but i have heard some horror stories about it... i might just buy a 4gb with my own money!!! they annoy me at times with their state budget restrictions and red tape, but they pay my tuition for grad school so how much can i complain really.
 
quick question on that actually... if i am dumping the 16gb while shooting on the 4gb will there be enough time? will the dumping be done before the 4gb is full and needs to be dumped too? i would be using a macbook pro and duel adapter...
 
4GB cards are kind of a nightmare because they run out way too fast. If I were you I'd bite the bullet and buy another couple of 16 or 32 GB cards on your credit card. That or just shoot to DV until you can afford more P2 cards. Trying to cover live events with a single 16GB card is just about mission impossible.
