When you hang around this site and watch other people's work, and it just happen that you received your xh a1, green screen laying around, you call your local rap group to do a micro budget music video totally on greenscreen,...

You get this: http://www.vimeo.com/1367409

youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0S19l6sDIY

not perfect but at least it a start and a good pratice.

(Man, i got schooled by the xh a1 doing this video) (coming from dvx100b)

ok, now your turn....

That was fantastic! The A-1 greenscreen work looked very, very nice! The editing was phenomenal and the tune wasn't half bad either. Definitely one of the best A-1 music videos I've seen. Thanks for sharing that I enjoyed it

Thanks for the comment (That brought tears to my eyes).

Yes i capture to tape then logged to my imac

The reason I asked is because the XH A1 captures 4:2:0 to tape (HDV spec) and 4:2:2 directly to the computer. So you should get a better key if you were to capture which would be good especially for hard keys.

Is this all greenscreen....the keys are on spot....I'm about to do asimiliar video and we were looking at renting a studio with white background setup...but If I can use greenscreen and get similiar results we can save some money....what did you use to key?

Toolmodel.

You need a black magic card to capture directly to computer, if I'm not mistaken.

If you capture through firewire, then it's the same compression/color space as shooting to tape. I might be wrong though, but I'm 90% sure that's what I read elsewhere on this forum.

There's few shot with black bacground, but yes the rest is all greenscreen. at first i was worried about the 4:2:0 color sampling to do an all greenscreen video. a friend hook me up with the school of arts soundstage here in Raleigh, and they have very good light setting, i guess that's why saved me.
at some point knowing the final result i was going for, i wished i did with an all white background instead. but to tell the truth, i didnt planned this video properly, but good lightning saved my a**. and going greenscreen saved me some money

shot in 24f, 1/48 shutter,... the motion blur of the 24f also caused a problem in post for the key. please people, learn after effect, please, even though most of the key was pulled in final cut pro

the key is damn good here...except when the guys sitting in the chair there is some crawling in the dark areas

the quality is pretty sick tho

Newman!
What's up, this is great! I am actually scheduled to do EXACTLY the same thing next Tuesday. They want it patterned after the Hurricane Chris Abay bay video which is almost exactly what you have here. that is wild. I am shooting with the A1 as well. I am planning on using a green back as well as a white and black and we are going to gel the background different colors to get the effect. Very cool. I don't know that my song is as good as yours :) but that looks great. I'll post mine when I'm done.

I'm going to try to shoot this in 24f I think. Did you find it easy to work with? I will not be using a green screen, just a white and black background paper... I'm nervous about this one. This will be my first staged shoot. I know the camera pretty well though, that will help I guess.

24f was great but hard to work with, especially the dancing part on greenscreen, but since you wont use greenscreen, you won have much a pain,...

again, good luck, can't wait to see it

Ok now that I'm done shooting let me ask you. How wide was your background? I had to keep my people in a very tight area to avoid going off the back ground, and I could get no full length shots. Everything else came out pretty good.

You can shoot at a higher shutterspeed to reduce the mblur.Especially with action shots eg dancing, fighting ,running or dancing fighting and running at the same time.
If you got the time you can reintroduce the Mblur with radial blur or directional blur. Apply it to fast moving body parts.
