Will the HPX170 bump down the HVX200a price at all?

I got my 200a for $4995 from Abel Cine. With a 16GB.

i suspect that used 200a's will drop quite a bit and used 200's will be dirt cheap.
really?? Are they a licensed retailer? Does tax apply? Cuz by is still $5200, but no tax
You always have to pay tax, except in states that have no sales tax, and there are few.
All states with sales tax require you to pay a use tax for out of state purchases. Some have special rules that apply.

Some states have a provision for a lower tax rate for film-related equipment. I believe the tax drops to 3% in California if you fill out the appropriate form.

To me at least, it isn't worth the pain dealing with a state tax audit by failing to pay a use tax on a purchase.
The idea that if you buy on the internet then you owe no sales tax simply is a fallacy.
And dealing with a tax audit for failing to pay a use tax isn't a pleasant prospect especially if the saving is only three or four hundred dollars.

i dont know that the release of teh 170 would have that great an effect on the 200a.
the 200a has already had a pretty significant effect on the 200 on the used market. but effectively the 170 and the 200a will result in the same image quality. but they are different cameras for different people. if you need tape, you have to go with a 200a. if not, the 170 is an option.

A lot of folks put enormous value on the SDI port.
I don't necessarily see that as an everyday value for me, but some do.
