Got my new Carrion monitors...

Hi Angry Ostrich, (Martin)
I received your email and yes your plate will be out tomorrow. My apologies for the delay.
Luis

Hey well at least he's answered to you. It's been a month and still no answer! And it's not even related to tech support but wanting to buy another monitor!

Thank you so much Luis. I know that, like myself, you are a one man show, and my heart goes out to you. I have just come through a very difficult time myself and am starting to get my head out of the water. I hope that things are improving for you as well. You have an excellent product and I look forward to doing business with you in the future.

Let me say that Luis has always been good on his word. Once he says that it will happen, it does. Thanks Luis, it came today, less than 24 hours from your call telling me you were putting it in the mail.

Thanks Angry Ostrich,
I do try to always keep my word, but I do have to admit that it doesn't always happen. What I can say is that I do my best to do what I say. Some times it takes me a little longer than I expect, but I get to it eventually.
Thanks everyone for your patience and understanding. :)

With all due respect, I've never had an answer to an email of a month ago in which I simply asked if you were taking orders, and what kind of wait time to expect.

Any chance of that now? Thanks.

I've also had questions on battery plates. Does anyone know if there is one that uses the Sony batteries from the Z1U?

I'm hoping Luis makes a plate for the EX1 battery as this is a very popular camera now for 35mm adapters, etc.

Film842,
Sorry about not replying to your email. I sometimes have trouble with the junk mail filtering. (one from my dsl provider and one in Outlook)
Yes I am taking orders. You can go to www.lsdsgn.com and find the information there.

Reel Inspirations,
I believe I do make the plate for that. Just send me a PM with the battery model and I'll double check.

Shivrajs,
sorry man. I'm doing it right now before I forget. :)
(there, you should have the email from paypal.)

I guess I'm one of those future Carrion users waiting on my monitor........
Luis, tomorrow will be 2 months since order has been in for monitor, pana- battery plate and other accesory. Last email you said to contact if haven't heard anything......
Just trying to get an idea on delivery.

I've heard from Martin I. that this monitor is the shiznit! Always like to hear of a successful and quality piece of kit.

Carrion monitors

Carrion monitors

thank you luis!
I've tried to e-mail and PM Luis several times with no repsonse. I feel that the Carrion would be the best monitor for the money spent. Everyone here has nothing but the best things to say about it but I am also looking at the Marshall 7".
I can understand and appreciate that Luis is a very busy person but if he is recieving tons of e-mails as well as people waiting/wanting to purchase his excellent products, then he should consider getting some help. A successful business always begins with great customer service. I am looking forward to hearing from him soon. JDB.

You guys have obviously never ordered from Red Rock:) Paid for my matte box and shoulder mount April 16 from a reservation placed in early Fall of '07. Still nowhere to be found. And this is with a company that has customer service personel and and an expedite firm to ship orders. I love my Red Rock products (FF and rails) but between their shipping prices, lost product, delays, etc... it gets old. I didn't drop in here to knock Red Rock, just to point out that products for the indie video industry are really a cottage industry (don't know if Brian or Andrew at Red Rock would be knitting sweaters though). Red Rock, Luis, Dyson, Cinevate, et al are trying to create high quality, innovative, and most of all, afffordable products for us joes that got into this business for love or to just have cool stuff in their closet or basement to show their friends. I know for me, it has opened the door to new opportunities and to pursue something I really enjoy doing. Who knows, one day I might even shoot an indie movie myself. But for now, I've got (or getting) great affordable products that heretofore would have cost many thousands of dollars. Just compare the price of a Mini 35 to a Letus Extreme or SG PRo (or any other 35mm adapter). And with Luis, we're talking about a killer monitor with lots of battery options, SDI if you want it (and upgradeable) for a knockout price. I love my Panasonic products, but saving $1k on a monitor is enough to pay for my RR Mate Box set. And so it goes.

At least Luis picked up the phone when there was a change and called me personally (and I still got my order within 60 days or so). I know I've said it before, but Luis seems to be a real stand up guy trying hard to get it all together. All I know is my Carrion kicks butt and screams PRO when I show up on a job. I just wish I had ordered it with SDI now that I have my HPX.

I hope Luis gets the help he needs to move his business forward. He obviously has a great eye for the product and a desire to create the very best that he can.

JDP, if you need a monitor right away and it's keeping you from making money, I'd look at the Panasonic or, if it's just for framing, the Marshall. But if you have an HPX and shooting for money, I'd order a Panasonic unless Marshall has stepped up with a decent protable HD unit. But if you can wait and want to save money too, I'd wait and talk to Luis.

This rant has officially ended. That was a long one for a Saturday!

Thank you Ducatimark for you post. Its not a rant at all but a reality check. I guess that most of us have become impatient at times or even spoiled because we are used to ordering and getting quick attention.
You are right whne saying that the independent filmmakers of the world use cootage industries to help us with our projects. I appreciate your opinion and input and even though I would like to have a monitor quicker, I have decided to take your good advice and wait for Luis to get back to me and order one of his Carrion models. Thanks to everyone here at DVxuser, I have been able to do a lot of research and agrre that Luis's Carrion would be best. Thanks again. Dr. JDB.
