Got my new Carrion monitors...

At least Luis picked up the phone when there was a change and called me personally (and I still got my order within 60 days or so).

Really? I paid for mine April 1st and still have not received it. I talked to Luis at NAB and he sounded busy but this is getting a bit absurd.

Ouch. I agree. I've seen Luis pop up here and there and he says he's working on it. He needs to let you all know what's up.

Jeez... I thought my mid-May order was pushing it! Great to know I might still be another month and a half out or more from delivery...

Yeah I know, Redrock has similar long waits etc. but, although I've never personally ordered anything from them (I may do so soon for their shoulder mount) the fact that it is an organization of people and not just an individual doing it would make me feel a lot more at ease about the wait. At least, Redrock has forums and seems to communicate on some level with its customers. What we really need is a centralized "Where's My Carrion?" thread... as it is now, the forum discussion about the monitor and people waiting for theirs is spread over too many subforums and threads.

I don't want to sound ungrateful for Luis's efforts or unaware of the amount of work he's doing as the single person behind the operation. All I really ask is that he would level with his customers and give them an update on what to expect - even if it's "Wait another few months" - anything is better than the current situation (unread/unanswered PMs, an overzealous e-mail spam filter (get a new account?), the odd reply here and there in the forums, etc). I think people would be fine waiting longer if they just knew it wasn't all for nothing. Hopefully we all understood we were getting a great deal on an unusually good monitor being sold by an individual, and all that that implies.

Sorry for the rant.

The one man show thing concerned me as well vs. dealing with an organization.

Not to beat on Red Rock again, I'm still waiting to hear if my order has shipped. I do get the occasional email asking if I rec'd product; and then when I say no (or heaven forbid, ask a question) I don't hear from them. I'm waiting somewhat patiently, but it's frustrating reading on their forums about people that rec'd their products and how great they are and you're still waiting and not hearing anything. And again, I have a shoot tomorrow that begs for a matte box and filters (late evening sun in a wide open area) and I'll do without. And that was after putting the client off for weeks to do the shoot so that I'd have my new MB.

And back to Luis. As an existing customer, I really hope he gets on the ball responding to his customers. The potential is there for a great little company. Your comments were no rant. He really does need to do all the things that you say. At the least, he can send out bulk emails explaining the situation and approximate delays or delivery times based on order date.

I recieved my Carrion yesterday after waiting almost four months since paying for it. It looks great!

Unfortunately the Panasonic battery plate I ordered wasn't in the package. Luis, please email me and let me know what's happening.

Thank you!

Lars, did you receive any shipping info prior to the monitor itself? What carrier delivered it?

I'm worried I won't get the Panasonic plate with mine either...

Oedipax: No shipping info, except of the FedEx tracking number. And no note from Luis in the package – that is I don't know if he just forgot to include the battery plate, or if the battery plate is out of stock..
I think I read another post here of some guy who waited a long time for his plate after he got the monitor so I'm worried there will be more frustration to come.
Meanwhile I'm using AC power and getting to know the Carrion. Connected to my XH-A1/Brevis setup (via HD component cable) everything looks great right away with no need for color adjustment etc.

Hey Lars,
sorry about the battery plate. Your plate should ship today or tomorrow. as well as most other Battery plates that did not ship last week. I was rushing through getting the monitors out that I missed a couple.

Also wanted to know what you thought about the monitor?

Thanks,

Luis

Hi Luis

That's great news!

The monitor is truly amazing! Worth waiting for :-) More than once I was close to cancel the order and buy a lower res Nebtek instead, but now I'm happy I didn't do that!

/Lars

Used my Carrion with the HPX-500 for the first time yesterday, looked simply breathtaking!

I look forward to receiving my Anton Bauer plate so that I can be more mobile with it.

Thanks Luis.
