Vimeo link below - this shows the scenes as requested by a company we're negotiating with for investment for our movie. This would be my first feature - hope you like!

It would be a psychological horror inspired by asian new wave, set in world war two eastern front, produced in Scotland.

Hey Guys!

So anyway, thought I would post some pics - I will post clips on vimeo soon too, of a wee 5 min promo I have shot for a ww2 set psychological horror that im currently pitching to another production company.

We shot over 2 days, with some material from our script, it was a bit of a rush but we got nice shots. I used the HVX200, with the Brevis and a fairly typical range of Nikon lenses.

Outdoor stuff filmed on insane hard light summer day, interiors with redheads in old factory (outside generator) and pics are compressed jpgs (very compressed actually)

Hiya mate - comments are appreciated likes!

The grading was just done with magic bullet and other bits and bops in premiere nothing too special!

The redheads in the factory ar a bit too much for my taste.
Some diffusors and a bit less light would look nicer and would helped to make some mood.

For your outdoor shoots you need some ND grad filters to prevent blown out sky. Google for" KOOD Pro 100" they are made in UK and great quality for about $20.

Othervise nice setting, and russian uniforms.

Frank

P.S. Those carabines are american, right?

Yeah that sounds about right postmaster - it was a trully sunny days and grad filters would have helped - ill check out your link.

Im pleased with the footage personally (but a darker more moody factory would be better!)

The guns are mosin nagan rifles - and theres a k98 there too (all ww2 stamped deactivated firearms)

seems like a lot of brevis footage i see always appears washed out, glad to know you color corrected it and thats not the look of how the footage looks raw.

i agree with the poster above, the factory shots look too washed out for my tastes as well and not really a fan of the sky being blown out whether intentional or not.

composition looks cool though.

Yeah i know, would have preferred to retain the sky - but it got so bright the sky was like turquoise / nuclear lol - casting real hard shadows over the area. Pressed for time so went with it like it was - it loosk fine for me but with time (if i get the mulah for this movie) id find sooomewhere with more shade, and or get my hands on some ND grad filters.

I like the washed out style for this - in factory, i would also think a low key lighting setup would look hot as well, something real noir likes hehe.

The actual factory scene in our script is set at night (not in this promo its day, and another scene leads straight from it outdoors in daytime)

Not noticed the Brevis being washed out in comparison to other adapters (But then most footage ive seen lol is graded on here) - haha think there would be a serious problem if any footage came out of an adapter looking 'graded' - cheers

Cheers mate - i love the vintage look, i find myself er drifting to creating almost sepia biased desaturated, bleach bypass type looks - must stop myself haha.

That's not Dennis Hopper but a great actor friend of mine Jock Ferguson (based in Scotland.) He acted out in my promo, and hopefully my film lands a deal so i can use him again haha.

Here we go guys - its now on vimeo hurrah.

Comments welcome - its not a promo or trailer for the film (but a specific number of examples requested by a company we're negotiating with for pennies.)

This would be my first feature too if i get a deal hehe ;)

Verry cool! but, uhh, am I the only one who caught the fact that the K-3 that the guy is holding wasnt produced for atleast 20 years after WWII?

For some reason, that just had me laughing! Talk about being all over the map- literally!

Anyways, the film sounds cool, even if that line made me chuckle. I hope to see it.

Guys cheers for the responses - can i ask what you think of the cinematography, acting etc - is it good enough for straight to video dvd fare etc?

Yep what do u think of the concept. I mean in the USA you guys have a lot of freedom to tell stories (cultural influence) so i dont know does my idea sound insane cos its insane or cos its from scotland etc! lol who knows haha
