Here's a trailer for my new snowmobile film, EVOLUTION. Shot entirely on a XH-A1. Love to hear your thoughts and opinions. I know there is definite room for improvement (such as shooting some slowmo in 24f instead of 60).

Anyways, have a look....

EVOLUTION

I would recommend clicking the "720" download link below the player and watching this higher res version than the compressed flash movie.

THAT is great! Awesome! I can't imagine riding like that, but it sure is fun to watch. Loved it!

I'm sure there's room for improvment (there always is), but I'll be damned if I can see where.

Great job.

Congrats on distribution...

You had some spectacular shots... I also liked the Evolution composite graphic...

What is the total run time of the project? I was particularly impressed that you were able to keep your exposure in check with all the snow and light bouncing around... How much total footage did you have?

that was awesome. did you shoot from a helicopter? those were some stunning shots! i also like the snow at the end of the trailer. did you create that?

Total runtime will be around 60 minutes. Generally the built in filters were enough to keep the exposure in check. Only a couple days they weren't enough to do the job.

What editing software do you use? Thought you did a good job, and would like to see some more of your work.

I use all Adobe CS3. Premiere, AE, Photoshop

No heli shots. Just posted up from opposite ridge lines for most shots.

One thing I always struggled with the A1 is the bad strobing effect. If the motion didn't match the pan of the camera there was bad strobing. So anything stationary, trees, rocks, etc are always stobed out while I panned with the action. It was really bad in 24f, and still present in 60i. Is this a Canon issue or are all HD's the same? Never had any issue with my Sony 2100 shot in 29.97. I used 24f to simulate the film look and some (not enough) 60i for slow mo. Strobing has been my only complaint thus far.

The strobing of static objects in the scene has been my only concern too but I guess this is normal consequence of the 24/25 progressive motion cadence and not a HDV thing. It drives me crazy when I try to get decent JIB shots.
