"ACT II" a film by Flyin' Monkey Films

Screen grabs. I'm currently trying to reconstruct the film through editing, so we'll see how it comes out.

okay, time to call it quits on this project. We're just going to have to reshoot this for after the fest. What we've got in the can is really just not very good, and after a week of editing and trying to shape it into shomething else, it's just not working.

We had too many problems going on the night of shooting, from equipment missing, personal AND work problems intruding, that there was a serious lack of focus. Too many disruptions really. No amount of editing can fix it and I can say that I;ve given it a damn good shot.

I must say though that the first one minute is quite good...

Anyway, I'll be watching the other films with an envious eye and casting my votes. See you guys in the next fest and i SWEAR that I will actually start preparing the DAY the fest is announced.

In the meantime, I have a reshoot to go schedule.

Good luck you guys.

we put way too much effort into makign it in the first place.. even though it was last minute. Now we're going to have to reschedule a shoot here in Toronto. Trying to get to it something this week and have a new actress in mind already.

We should have the "Films=that-didn't-make-it-to-the-Fest Fest".

I was actually thinking of just entering the first one minute as the shortest film in the fest, but there were no clocks in there and it just didn't feel right.... if only we had changed one line...

Oh well: we'll just reshoot and do it right.

i got some extra clock footage if you want it. :)

sad to see this one go. I got a feva', and the only prescription ... is more of those glasses.

since it's now a non-compete, maybe I'll post the first one minute on Vimeo... just for the full flavor of the goggles... which reminds me: time to order more goggles from ebay...

I do have clock shots.. it's just for the following scene which is indoors at night and has no place on the pier...

do the clock shots! that would be kick ass!

lol at the willy wonka glasses, they do really make it look futuristic. good luck in the fest!

so I uploaded the re-edit from the little footage we have. Now it's all artsy fartsy and so far away from the original intent, but it's it own little creation now.

Found a new actress for the reshoot. Trying to set the schedule now for this week, but I seem to have come down with a bit of a cold, so we'll see if I can get this reshoot done this week or next week. Maybe by the time all the votes are in i will have finished the film the way it WAS intended.

Then you will all feel the power of fully funtional WILLY WONKA (tm) GOGGLES!

Just watched it.

Interesting story. I like the idea.

Audio was a little iffy. Dialogue levels were low and the white noise cuts in and out.

I'm not sure I understood anybody's motivation. Why was the main character sitting on the peer? Who is this guy that is talking to her and what is he doing?

Anyway, good work. I can't wait to see what you make next.

Act II review: Hey that rhymes!

Well first thing to mention. Clean your glass! I was worried is was my monitor. But you have a few pieces of junk floating around the frame. Colours changed a little bit in between takes. Especially around 1:25.

A lot of digital distortion near the gun part. And hammer part. Levels were way to high.

I think I actually saw the finger on the clock as it rolled back.

Overall nice. Just clean the glass before shooting. Watch the levels and the colours.

Cool movie! I'm still thinking about it, cause I don't really know what it's about..death I guess??? Love the whole idea.

Spoilers----------
*Glasses are on the girls eyes @:48 then magically off @:58 (that stuff bug me)
* Music too loud, dialog too soft....needs a good mix.
* dirt on the camera lens
* major shift in color from scene to scene

All in all...great job! I'll be watching this one a few more times.

i'm not allowed to give any insight (shouldn't be needed) until a few more reviews are in. If you read the thread you'll see some of the decisions we made as well as the trials and what happens after the fest.

Keep the critique coming. Glad this edit has got some of you thinking.

And yes, it's time to get a new focusing screen. THose D Screens are impossible to find these days.

Liked the reflection on the glasses. What lost me in the film was the music. I just thought it was way to dramatic. Overbearing really. Though, I did love the actress. We gonna get to see her again?

i didn't quite get the concept here.

was she asked to change something, and she did, and the different readings of the line were different iterations of her after the change?

i really liked the look, i think it was really well colored, and although there was a lot of static camera, i liked hanging on your actress for delivery. and overall, i'd say it was very atmospheric.

i'd definitely be interested in seeing more. most definitely.

just watched your film... I think I'm suppose to tell you to f@ck off.

trippy film, I think i get it but I don't want to give it away. I'm down with the avant-guard.

I actually don't think i get it, so i wont give it a rating yet. i'll check back later in this thread to see if it's cleared :D

the llok of the film was pretty spacey and i think a different kind of music was needed, same with the loud sound effect. I think this would've worked better with a slower more eerie mood.
