SCENE FILE X-CHANGE test site is up...

Definatly a great idea. The site needs some work in Firefox.

I'm a web designer, so PM me if you need some help.

its not dead. here is the status. we were trying to make a HUGE developmental leap forward from this to a fully automated upload/download/forum/rating situation.

but we have all been too busy with our work to give it the time it needs.

so, in the next few weeks im going to be making some basic changes justto get this one up and working with some content.

the other HUGE problem is that ive had a ton of folks interested in getting scene files. but only about 4 people wanting to provide them. so its going to be lean at first.

if any of you have files that youd like to share. please PM me and we will work on getting them posted.

Scene File Ceations HVX-200

Scene File Ceations HVX-200

How to create a scene file for the HVX200 in a TXT text editing program:

[Side note: if you make changes in camera, you must SAVE it before leaving the menu or else it will not save]

By using the math work from tlorenzo from the archive http://dvxuser.com/V6/archive/index.php/t-74938.html
I have come to the following results in creating a SCENE FILE in a .TXT edit file.
(note: do not have ANY other meta data in this text file!- Apple's TextEdit likes to save as .RTF, this will not work. Must save a TXT and remove header info, not easy to do on mac).

Sample scene file with default settings:
Ver 1.00-00
AG-HVX200P
TITLE:BRGCLR
<F1>
SCENE NAME :NORMAL
00005000: 13 ; DETAIL LEVEL: 0
00005001: 13 ; V DETAIL LEVEL: 0
00005002: 7 ; DETAIL CORING : 0
00005003: 3 ; CHROMA LEVEL: 0
00005004: 8 ; CHROMA PHASE: 0
00005005: 8 ; COLOR TEMP: 0
00005006: 6 ; MASTER PED: 0
00005007: 8 ; A.IRIS LEVEL: 0
00005008: 1 ; NEWS GAMMA: OFF
00005009: 6 ; GAMMA : CINELIKE V
0000500A: 0 ; KNEE: AUTO
0000500B: 1 ; MATRIX: ENRICHED
0000500C: 1 ; SKIN TONE DTL : OFF
0000500D: 0 ; V DETAIL FREQ : THIN
0000500E: 1 ; OPERATION TYPE: FILM CAM
0000500F: 34 ; FRAME RATE: 60P
00005010: BE022C01 ; SYNCRO SCAN : 150

The first three lines identifies basic info (version,camera model and Title of scene file). Each new scene file is indicated by carrots <> and <F1> through <F6> are possible and must me numerically in order , (six scene file setting possible per .txt file and camera can access up to 4 .txt files so you can have 24 different specific settings.

The first column tells the camera what attribute is going to be changed. DO NOT CHANGE the order of these numbers!
The second column is the VAULE for that attribute. Here is what you can manually change in the file. Except for Syncro Scan, numbers are basic positive values.

The last column is a text value . This is just a reference to see what the attribute and value are and is really just notes for the user. Changes here do not affect the settings.

If you want to change the frame rate:
For Frame Rate, a pattern eludes this sequence but is based on increments of 2 with some numbers eliminated
0= default= 24 or 30
10=18fps
11=20fps
18=28fps
19=30fps
22=36fps
25=42fps
30=52fps
34=60fps

For Syncro Scan, As tlorenzo stated, the BE02 is the value (or 4A02 for PAL cams) is the value when in VIDEO CAM, It is in Hexadecimal form. The last numbers "6801" (written in Hexadecimal form- the default of 180.0 Degrees) tells the shutter angle when in FILM CAM. To set the shutter angle in Film Cam mode, type a four digit, hex value in the last four spaces.

Take the whole number degree you wish to achieve and multiple by 512 (half degrees are 256) so 120 degrees * 512= 61440 go to a Hex converter like http://www.permadi.com/tutorial/numConvJs/ and obtain a HEX code Here, 120.0 Degrees = F000.

For Values over 128.0 degrees, Subtract 128.0 from the value and multiple by 512 (Half degrees are 256)then add 1. Ex. 150.0 degrees= 150-128=22*512 = 11264 + 1= 11265= 2C01 (HEX VALUE)=150.0 Degrees.

For Values over 256 degrees, Subtract 256.0 from the value and multiple by 512 (Half degrees are 256)then add 2.
Ex. 270.0 degrees= 270-256= 14*512 = 7168 + 2= 7170= 1C02 (HEX VALUE)=270.0 Degrees.

For Values over 384, ADD 3.

Here are some common degrees and their hexadecimal values for NTSC (60Hz) cameras.
60.0 degrees= 7800
75.0 degrees= 9600
90.0 degrees = B400
120.0 degrees=F000
150.0 degrees=2C01
180.0 degrees = 6801 (this is the DEFAULT)
200.0 degrees= 9001
210.0 degrees= A401
240.0 degrees= E001
270.0 degrees= 1C02
300.0 degrees= 5802

Give it a try and post your results.

I hope to see some updates to the site, its a great idea! I ordered my HVX today, once I get to play with it I'd be happy to offer whatever SF's I come up with.

cool! what i'll ask everyone to do (for the time being) is to provide a screen capture along with their settings.

The idea has been tossed around for about five years now, since the original DVX came out. Nobody's showed much interest in it yet, so while I don't want to be party to killing a good idea, I can't in good conscience tell you to spend a thousand bucks on it either.

I spent a lot of time trying to match a dozen of the Magic Bullet Movie Looks scene files on the DVX DVD. Has anyone ever talked about those scene files? Very few. I put two dozen scene files on The HVX CD, and months and months go by without anyone even mentioning them.

In short, we try to get 'em out there but I really don't know that the end users seem to care all that much. :/

i just got my hvx last saturday and am using your presets in the boot camp dvd...thanks soo much man theyre awesome!

I have a SPX-800, as far as I know the only diff between the 800 and the spx900 is the latter has a VTR sectiona and the 800 just has P2 (of course):

Question When I download a SPX900 scene file to a spx800 fromatted SD card, the spx800 can't read the scene file(s). It comes up as "NG" "No Scene File".

How do you guys get the scene files into the camera SD card area which has 8 scene file titles versus the so called SCENE file area of the camera which is memory within the camera and has 4 titles, 3 of which can be reset to factory default.

Thanks, Patrick

A reply to Barry's post about the scene files. I've been using them exclusively for a short I'm working on and I think they're great (filmic, skipbleach, warepic) Screengrabs are a little compressed and aspect ratio's off a bit, but originals look good.

P.S. How do you get the proper aspect ratio for screengrabs when you create a JPEG, by the way? (originals were shot in 720. And I did use photoshop as the intermediate stop.)

I think its under Image>Image Size>uncheck constrain proportions> then make sure its 1280x720>apply.

Is this site still alive and kicking?

Nooooo! We DO care!! I loved those scene files on the HVX CD, and one of the first things I did after buying my HPX was to load up the Panasonic scene files. Please don't think we don't love them just because we don't talk about them. Unfortunately people just naturally talk more about things which are a problem than things which are great. (And we probably all take you for granted sometimes Barry. But your constant efforts on behalf of users are definitely appreciated!)

i have finally decided to stop any further development on the scene file site. i just dont think there is enough interest or need to justify the effort it would take to make it what i want it to be.

thank you all for looking.
