noise in my images that I never noticed?

I'm not sure why but i was on a shoot and I noticed noise in my image

It looked to me as if my gain was up

I made sure it wasn't and it was set to 0

I turned of evf detail and that sort of took it out....but after I once saw this....it seemed as if I always could see the noise in my image..and I have never noticed this before

I even went back to look at old music videos I made with my dvx...and I cut so fast....I can't really see that noise....but in footage I have shot lately...I totally see it

has that always been there...that noise from the dvx

I know you can turn detail down a bit and that helps. I do...I went to -4 and it took it down a bit....but again....I'm just surpised...I was shooting with cinelike v and with normal....I shot my old videos with cinelike V and cinelike....i'm going to chage to that to see if that helps

I also would shoot my old videos with higher shutters like 250, 125, 500 and at least 60

wondering if that makes a difference

anyone want to chime in on this....I totally thought something was wrong with my camera....I can't believe I never saw this odd noise....maybe it is because I have been shooting hvx lately...I really don't know....any thoughts

I am pretty sure you answered your own question. The dvx is going to have noise almost all the time, especially when viewed on an hd monitor. Up the coring it helps a bit. But really, you have to expect noise from an sd camera.
Some screen grabs would be helpful however.

I remember reading in an old thread somewhere to avoid Cinelike D or V to avoid noise issues. Barry's book notes that Cinelike D uses gain to stretch the gamma curve. Cinelike V also stretches the gamma curve but not clear on how.

You can also see some noise based on the manual white balance settings (if it has to gain up one channel excessively to achieve white balance), or you could see some noise if the iris is wide open. There are a number of reasons, but is it really objectionable?

I use cine d just to get at the dynamic range that film has. I will have a lil noise if I can have more range.
