We'd all be happy with just a shot of the interior of your house at this un-Godly hour.
Just nothing with "Flesh Tones".

I have to say... This is really depressing. I have no plans to upgrade to the HVX200a, but that footage was night and day, and I do a TON of low light photography. I guess I'll have to embrace the noise for a while.
Then it's either the 170 or Scarlet, depending on if it looks like it will ship on time or not. I just wish panasonic offered an upgrade program of some kind.
What about ALL THE PEOPLE who've just bought a brand new HVX200 in the last three months?
I've loved electronics since I was a kid, but I hate the obsolete nature of it.
This is very depressing. But no ill will! I wish all new buyers the best on the A. I hope you enjoy your awesome low light photography you bastards!

Ah Santo Domingo. I'll be heading down there to visit family in about 2 weeks. I'm very interested in the film industry down there. I think there is a lot of potential--my goal is to try to make a film or two down there myself. What type of project will you guys be working on?
I can confirm, in preliminary testing, that the 200a is both a half-stop more light sensitive as advertised, and much less noisy. While the difference under normal conditions seems slight, in ultra low light it's truly dramatic.
Call my report anecdotal if you like (no grabs, footage etc.), but I found that the 200a with 6db of gain is still noticeably less noisy than the 200 with no gain. In effect, that adds up to about a stop and a half better:
.5 stop more light sensitivity + 1 stop's (equivalent) lower noise (or better) = at least 1.5+ stops greater "efficiency" (or whatever we might call the net benefit). Sweet...
The wider angle lens is also a very welcome change.
