Flash recorder/ HD-SDI

Have you guys seen this yet. It actually looks like a real solution for HD-SDI field recording at only 5000.

Hi Paul-
I will be glad to answer any question on Flash XDR. We had it on display in the Canon booth at NAB. It records very high quality video to inexpensive Compact Flash cards. At the highest bit-rate of 160 Mbps I-Frame only (4:2:2), the video is virtually indistinguishable from uncompressed.

How many minutes per load?

How many minutes per load?

Hi Robert-
It depends on the bit-rate and the Compact Flash card size. At 100 Mbps, you get a total of 142 minutes using four 32 GB cards (about $150 each). The cards are hot-swappable, so you can record indefinitely. The box automatically switches to the next card as each one fills up. There are four level meters on the LCD panel and LEDs associated with each card (indicating which card is active, which card is full, etc).

And how does one edit with this Mpeg-2 video?

Hi Matt-
Final Cut Pro announced support for the 50Mbps MPEG2 CODEC at NAB. We are working to extend this support to the 100 and 160 Mbps rates. We expect support form Avid in a few months. Other NLE programs has similar support programs in the works.

Hey Mike, post a sample MPEG video in the 160 and 100 modes and I'll give it a try in EDIUS, Vegas, and Premiere Pro...
