How does a fairly green indie fimmaker with a new HVX200, editing on Sony vegas (PC) fo about getting started? The HVX book (sorry Barry) doesn't really tell a newcomer what to do with your P2 card when it is full. I have a laptop> I have installed "P2 Drivers" and P2 Viewer." But I cannot get p2 Viewer to copy files to my Laptop. (actually I was going to copy to a 100 GB Seagate USB HD)

Should I copy the "content" folder and the "last clip" text file to my HD then make sure the mxf's and other files are there, then reformat the P2?

i NEED HELP FAST-- i HAVE A SHOW IN 24 HOURS. Thanks. PS what is an "NLE?"

The HVX Book doesn't go into post at all, that's correct.

Yes you can just drag the contents and lastclip folders over. P2 Viewer is a cleaner way to do it with less potential for user error. But you have to configure it with folders for virtual cards, etc. For now, just drag and drop.

The key thing is to make a folder for each card. DO NOT rename the "contents" folders or anything like that -- keep the cards absolutely identical in structure.

For working with Vegas, you should probably read this white paper:
ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/pub/Panasonic/Drivers/PBTS/papers/WP_P2Workflow_Vegas.Raylight.pdf

Thanks Barry. I tried what you said, using "P2 Viewer," after configuring my virtual card folders. But when I hit "Copy," the
"Contents" folder appears in my destination folder, but not the ""Last Clip" text file. Is something wrong?

By the way, dragging, I was able to import into Vegas using a Raylight Demo, set at "AVI Conversion." But I want to use P2 Viewer to do my copying.

Actually I wasn't successful copying to HD in P2 Viewer, I can't figure it out. All I get is empty folders. Yes I guess I could just drag and drop., But I like to see thumbnails so I know the clips are going in the correct folders.

Create a new folder for each drag-n-drop, name it whatever you want. Then in P2 viewer, using the Virtual Card menu, you can navigate to that folder, and open it in P2 viewer, shows thumbs, play clip, etc.
