How to capture Video with Xh A1 to FCE 4.0

I brought a new XH A1 and do not know how to capture into FCE. I connected my firewire from Cam to Macbook Pro then chose capture in FCE. Got an error that said unable to initialize video deck. Is there a special mode to set the camera to 1st. Any other suggestions?

A common error that often occurs in FCP as well. The workaround is to capture via iMovie and export QT files for importing into Final Cut.

Yes, in easy set-up, you need to set it to what you shot your footage in. For example HD 24 frame, HD 30 Frame, etc. I would assume you used HDV 1080p24 since this is your highest quality and moves at the rate of film. Hope that helps.

SCRATCH THAT, just re-read your post, and I remembere express doesn't capture 24 frame... You will probably have to use the anamorphic setting.

Actually that's not true express 4 should have an open timeline as well.
