Here is my problem at hand JVC makes a dual deck 4 head stereo VCR, I can get it for 699.95 + shipping wont be much. But this is a really nice deck has freeware, In and out so i can hook it up to my mac. And i think for the price It's well worth it instead of using my Camera as a deck. I have Ag-DVX100A and i dont want to kill the heads i have a warranty on the camera for 4 years that covers every thing. But I dont want to send it away or have to take it to some place for who know's how long. B&H Photo/Video Has it, under consumer video and then VCR's and assorcories. Whats everyone's thoughts, oh yeah, I dont have a job right now i wont for another month, I have spinal damage and I cant go back to my work and i wasn't job related when i got injured so i dont get compensation. Bogus huh? Should i drop the money and get the deck or wait. Kinda having a hard time not pulling out my debit card.

How about just buying a really really cheap camcorder to use as a capture deck instead?

woot.com had a 200$ deal the other day. Dont get a silly 700$ clunker when you can just use a consumer cam.

Do cheaper cam's keep the quality?

Do cheaper cam's keep the quality?

If i get a cheaper panisonic camera will the quality stay the same when i digitize from it? Because I know and you guys know that the DVX100A has great quality It's. No HVX but it still has great quality, I wont loose any of that will I? Because yeah I would just go out and get myself a little camera for 300 dollars instead of dropping 700 on a full out deck.

I didnt think about that in that manner. Your right. So basically any cheapo Mini DV camera will work as long as it has a firewire port on it. Save me some cash and give me a little toy to dink around with.

heres a question/answer since i dont know what the take is on it but, what about the fs-4 firestore? you can save on tapes and not use the heads and then dump straight to your editing station. Thats what I was gonna do with my next $550 clams, but what's the general thought on firestores?

I am using Panasonics PV-GS9. Its great because all of my big bad DVXUSER batteries work FOREVER on this little guy.

CookFx Productions...Horsefilms is telling you the facts. He may have been drunk when he was telling them to you, but he knows his gig! When you transfer digital files from your el-cheapo digital camera to your computer, you aren't losing ANY quality. Not a single stitch because its digital transfer. There is no generation loss with digital transfer....I'm begging you...please do NOT drop $700.00 dollars on a deck if you don't need to.
