spro rev 3 dvx100a footage

Hey, beautiful image!!!
can I ask how you got those shots without any grain???
I always get a little grain when I shoot in dark rooms?

well there was a lot of light coming in from the windows. with the sgpro you loose some light so....i always try to use the natruel day light, to me it gives the best light. i thinks its also do to the lenses. they are pretty fast lenses so the grain doesnt show up as much. i try to stop down one or two stops on the lenses. that also lessens the grain. also i have my detail level to -4 which helps as well.

how much was your zeiss? i hear they are pretty high up there in quality. think there is a big difference between shooting with your zeiss, then shooting with my hundred dollar nikon 50mm?

i have to experiment with more lenses

so are you saying that you had a lot of light and then you just made it look dark in post?

also I thought you are suppose to rise the Detail level when you use the adapter?

zeiss lenses you can find cheap if you really look. i use older zeiss lenses. fromt he jena family. pretty rare lenses, but were made with great care and quality. yeah i had nikons before, but the images were softer than i would like. so i realized that the lenses have a lot to do with it. zeiss give a very crisp image. yes the cheaper the lens, the less quality you get. i learned the hard way, that getting really good lenses is the way to go.. youll end up getting better images.

as for the detail level..you can raise it, but i notice a grain factor comes in. i rather keep it lower. just gives it more of a film look.

as for the light,, i added a filter in post which brings it down a little, but it looks pretty much like the raw footage.

wow.
so basically the key factor when shooting in low lighting is to lower the detail level and use fast/good lenses for you?
that's good to know!! thanks

btw, now what about the other settings? like what was the iris on your camera? etc...

Great musical choice. John Tavener is fantastic. Also, your footage looked very well lit and generally clean. Nice shooting!

thanks for the comment lawsuit.

yeah keeping the detail level down gives it a more filmic look and for me keeps the grain down. and yes fast lenses is the key.

as far as settings -4 detail master ped -6 everything else zero. this is thanks to dvxuser smettli whos stuff is always amazing.

for me when shooting in low light situations i just adjust the lens apature, rather than the camera. so the camera was wide open.

diff when outside. i tend to adjust both. and maybe even use the ND filter.
