I just got my first DVX a DVX100 I bought it used form B&H with 90 drum hours. I really dig this camera!

When I can afford it they usually have a used DVX100A on their site as well.

We're about to shoot a cool vamprie film with the DVX100

Proud to say I've somehow avoided the vampire/horror movie pitfall that so often befalls noobs and film school students...
100B all the way...

Horror movies are not exclusively noob territory. They require far more talent to pull off than your standard drama or comedy does.

I think his point was that there are alot of noobs who stab at zombie/horror stuff.
I must say, there have been alot of extremely stupid and poorly made horor films lately.

Yes, I recognize that horror is a difficult genre to do...that's why I always cringe when a fellow student tells me that they're shooting a zombie flick; you just don't have the experience or the resources to pull it off. But that's OK; it's good to experiment with different styles. It will give opportunity for study and improvement...indeed, if I limited my videography endeavors to those fields in which I feel prepared to do justice to the subject matter, I would not be making many videos, and as a result, I wouldn't be learning...

Agreed. The fastest way to grow is to take on a project you have no business taking on. You'll learn a ton about "what not to do."

Well that's great! Glad you avoided your pitfal.

Being as I am a union Hollywood local 706 Make-up artist and vote in the oscars. I'm hardly a noob to filmmaking. Been on movie sets for 20 yrs. Branching out into producing and openign my own producton company. This particular vamprie film is based off a play I have written and had published.

Impressive; I stand corrected, and rescind my initial remarks. Good luck, and let us know how things go.
