The Incredible Hulk (2008)

I was totally feeling it until the incredibly stupid end of that clip... I think we just saw the WHOLE movie.

Why can't somebody make an exciting hero flick for the intelligent audience?

Do you remember the original superman... when the child picked up the truck? The simple shot and the father's reaction? More of that please... less CGI STUPIDITY.

It's as bad as Disney... every Disney chick turns her head in the exact same way... with the slow motion hair flowing and the heaving chest... then replace the eyes on EVERY Disney character... they're all interchangeable. It's a cartoon version of life with about a million coats of lacquer... so that nothing ever feels real... even for a cartoon world.

The super-hero movies have gotten the same way... just another brand of lacquer.

I think there are still some good superhero films (Ok - there's just Chris Nolan's Batman), but they definatley have been going downhill for the mostpart (X3, Ghostrider, Spiderman 3)

The problem with these films are that the CG work makes it look like cartoon characters and NOT a part of the real world.

I remember prior to Steven wanting to put the green light on the CG Dino's in Jurassic Park, he wanted to ensure it looked plausible in the film.

I think that is the big mistake made these days; settling for cartoony looking crap while trying to be serious.

Agreed. That's what's so great about the new Batman films - they use a minimal amount of CG. Computer graphics are still not advanced enough to be completely convincing, epecially with humanoid forms.

It's ironic that most fantasy films don't give the audience's imagination enough credit. Less is almost always more.

The best CG is when you never even knew it was used.

Agreed. Just look at I Am Legend- the CG "people"really killed the ilusion built in the first 20 minutes of the film.

And the Ang Lee Hulk? Looked terrible!

i actually like ang lees hulk he looks much more real than this new hulk. but i think they ship them out too quickly Spiderman series does it well except the first spiderman with cg.... iron man looks like it will do well with its cg. transformers did VERY GREAT WITH THERES... its how much time and money are you going to invest in it to make it real is the issue. Batman doesnt need it because it could be real, just like the crow... but when people fly and **** it better make me believe....

Other than the new Batman (which still had its flaws) not one of the new superhero movies was interesting and deserving of the applause they got.

The Spider-man series plays out like some bad high school movie with special powers. Not one of the actors is compelling and the films pretty much rip off other film ideas. The entire Spider-man 2 was a rip of Superman 2.

The X-Men series had potential and the first one was semi-decent but the characters weren't fleshed out right. They were paper thin caricatures that could have been more. And the less said about the 3rd one the better.

As for Ghost Rider, actually Nick Cage wasn't that bad, at least he was better than I thought he would be. But the entire concept of the Ghost Rider just sucks. I mean not just the movie but the whole ideology of the character. I never read the comics so I am not sure if the films portrayed it correctly but what is the point of the Ghost Rider? Why does he even exist? Why does the devil need someone to go around collecting evil souls? Wouldn't the devil rather have evil people still alive to reek havoc on the world? Its not like these evil men will not go to hell eventually. Wouldn't it be better for them to continue there evil ways on earth and when they eventually die they will come to you anyway?. To me, the Ghost Rider should have been someone that served the devil's deeds by killing good people but then he rejects the devil and instead goes around killing bad people. Wouldn't that have made more sense or maybe I am missing something?

As for the rest, I can't remember any other superhero films that came out as that is how bad they were.

Superman 1 and 2 are the pinnacle of superhero movies. They are perfect. Batman 1 and 2 are also great. The only other film that comes close to those is Christopher Nolan's Batman (despite its major plot flaw). The rest just suck.

Oh, as for the Ang Lee Hulk. I actually kind of like it. Not a first viewing but after several other times. I still don't think its a great movie but it is better than the Spider-man series.

First, Iron Man should rock. We'll be pulling the boys from school a bit early and catch the matinee. It is sort of a tradition to catch the Marvel movies on opening night. And Downy's cameo is a lead in to the character cross over world of the Nick Fury and the Avengers. Ant Man, Thor, and Capt America are next in line before that happens.

As for the Hulk movie, I am holding my opinion until I see it. The first one wasn't awful bad, but it missed being good. The whole Daddy issue thing, the cheesy comic panels every scene, and Bana just didn't sell me on the character. The Hulk isn't just a raging beast, he is a raging beast with animal like instincts, and that is what makes him dangerous. He isn't a good leading character, but great for creating havoc.

As for the cgi, it is a necessity in this case, unless you want to bring back the corny muscle guy with bad contacts and green make up. I will say that from what I have seen, I like Ang Lee's better. Norton's Hulk looks too plastic like, ya know?

And on a parting note, X3 and Spidey 3 did suck, and the studio execs are to be blamed. Nolan's Batman also sucked, but I'm not sure who to blame for that. At least he didn't have Bat Nipples. Yet.

That is the thing about opinions, everyone has their own. Having grown up with the show, the cartoons, and of course the comics, it was not what I would see as Batman. The armor plated suit? Why not just give him a full suit of armor like Iron Man? If you want to watch some good Batman, you'll have to go online and check out Sandy Colera's version. Much closer to the comics. Another couple of good ones are the Death of Batman, and Worlds Finest.

As far as Hollywood goes, I'd still say the two Keaton movies were the best, but still not quite up to my expectations.

The Sandy Collora Batman is awesome, but I think Nolan's Batman is wonderful too.

I wish they would've used a real person to play the hulk and paint him green if it's between that and the CGI Hulk. I won't go see the Hulk because the CGI looks terribly unreal in that it looks like it is not physically a part of that environment. It has no weight.

yes we are a few years away from believable organic skin. metal skin looks pretty convincing already ( I robot ), but fleshy skin not so good.

Well, we've got them Hulks straight from the Mr. Olympia stage. Would look better than this CGI bullshit.
