The Target price is around $500. Which to me seems like a good deal, especially with all of the options you are getting with it. RR provides quality built gear at a modest price IHMO. The follow focus is about $645, and considering it performs better then the Chroziel, which costs $1200+ I'd say that it is very affordably priced. :) But that is just my opinion as well.

I dont think redrock products are overpriced. In fact, Redrock offers a lot of value for every single one of their stuff. Zacuto, on the other hand .....

Hi Folks

Just making sure the shipping announcement makes it to everywhere it's asked about:

24fps4ever - I would say our products are very reasonably priced. Take a look at the specs of the microMatteBox and the ARRI MB-20, and then look at the price - it's a phenomenal deal

Thanks again everyone

Brian

Your "very personal opinion" doesn't change cold facts. 695 for a damn good follow focus blows the competition away and is far from overpriced. Contrary to Ryan, though, I don't think it's as good as Chrosziel (my very personal opinion).

Have you priced matteboxes lately? 600 and change for a three stage fully featured mattebox is also an amazing price. At 1000.00 dollars this would still be a good price (don't get any ideas Brian).

Anyway, I was a few clicks away from a Hyson until I saw this announcement. Not sure of my reservation number but I didn't get a Wonka ticket.

Waiting for my Wonka Ticket. =)

Been daydreaming about this for eons! The Redrock Follow Focus is all-to-incredible and I KNOW the Mattebox is going to be the last one I'll have forever.

Judging by this release, I can say that Redrock's got some serious stuff lined up for this year. Between Letus and Redrock it's gonna be cuhrazy.

=\ I guess I need to start looking for an HPX500.

By the way top 50 guys: Just hold on. Gonna take a second to get the reservation calls out but bet on it. Gonna have some Mattebox envy goin' on around here soon.

But not the 1 - 50th Email, right? I've already received the reservation email but not the first 50th one.

I was on redrockmicro.com the first day they had reservations and I made a reservation but I dont think I was in the first 50...

Kholi, we are going to have to hijack someone's mattebox..Who should we get?

If your in the first 50, please send Kholi and I a PM and disregard my last sentance. Thanks!

Redrock microMatteBox Product Update

The time has come – microMatteBox is here.

Since the microMatteBox preview at Cinegear we have received literally hundreds of comments and suggestions, and have taken the time to incorporate many of these into the final shipping product. Thanks to everyone for all your constructive input on the microMatteBox. We believe the result is the best cinema matte box available for any comparable price range.

The complete and up-to-date microMatteBox product details are available on our website at

http://www.redrockmicro.com/microMattebox.html

microMatteBox Shipping Update

Production units of the microMatteBox will start shipping April 15th. The first batch will be delivered to the first 50 “ticket” reservation holders. Following this initial release, all remaining reservation holders will get priority access and preferential pricing to the microMatteBox before it becomes generally available.

The production version of microMatteBox will be shown at NAB at the Redrock booth (in central hall booth #C11733). Pictures of the production microMatteBox will be available on or before NAB. We also hope to have some independent commentary and reviews available around that time as well.

Also, we will announce the winners of the 5 free matte boxes at NAB. Winners will be drawn randomly from the entire current reservation list.

microMatteBox Compatibility

The microMatteBox is a universal matte box for 35mm adapters, video cameras, and motion picture cameras.

Lenses – The microMatteBox works with 35mm still and motion picture lenses up to 140mm in diameter. Rubber donuts are provided to fit lenses onto the microMatteBox.

Cameras – The microMatteBox also works with standalone video cameras. For direct mounting to video cameras that have a camera-mounted extended front microphone (such as the Panasonic HVX200 and Sony EX1), there will be an additional adapter that will allow it to be friendlier with these cameras. We are targeting to have this accessory available at or shortly after the microMatteBox release.

Rods – Due to its swing-away design, the microMatteBox requires 15mm rod support (60mm center to center), with native 19mm rod support as an option.

Filters – the microMatteBox is designed to support filters in sizes up to 6x6”. MicroMatteBox will initially ship with a dual-purpose filter tray that supports both 4x4” and 4x5.65” filter sizes. Support for specific filter sizes will be based on our rollout of supporting filter trays. All filter trays fit into our universal filter stage, which provides 360 degree rotation and secure locking of filter trays.
