What goes up, probably shouldn't try coming back down.

That was intense. What I really want to see is footage from inside the plane....I bet people were absolutely freaking out. Glad no one was hurt.

I found a pic:

Jeez one hell of a storm. Glad the plane was able to take back off though after that left wing strike. Pilots deserve medals for this kind of thing. The way they stay calm at the stick suprises me. Well done to them.

So true! When I read it in the newspaper this morning I was so surprised how fast he reacted in that situation and took of again instead of crashing it on the runway.

Well, those passengers now really got a story to tell!

Man, THAT is Engineering!.
Kudos to Boeing, McDonnalDouglas or whoever built that plane. You would think the forces involved would be enough to cripple it. Not only sustained it, was still airworthy and able to take off flying sideways and land safely (somewhere presumably). Incredible!!

That's for sure. I would say germany is one of the safest countries regarding natural desasters. Such a storm is probably the worst that can happen over here. Well, there was a mad flood a few years ago, raining alot.

But no tornados or big earthquakes or something.

I had a flight like this into Genoa Italy one time only with the added joy of fog. I was ready to start sawing my head off with a plastic spoon.

just be glad you don't live in oklahoma.

Great photo btw. it really looks like a sci-fi film.
It remainds me of the scenes where the ufos appeared in independence day(with less red colors).
we may be being attacked.....

I worked at TWA for years... you'd be AMAZED at what those planes are engineered to withstand! When you fly and you think it's really rough... you 'aint even feeling 5% of what that plane considers normal. Pilots fly like they do to keep passengers flying... whereas a 747 can do loop-d-loops no problem. I think you could have something on the order of 20' of wing-flex in a hairy situation... back when I worked at TWA I remember reporting on Delta flight that dropped some 10K feet in under a minute... they said that all the passengers were experiencing complete weightlessness for something like 30 seconds.

Isn't that an Airbus?
