Quick question, there's a requirement on these fests that films must be made within certain dates, but does anyone know the policy about if the script was written before the start of the contest, and then simply adapted to the contest rules (like adding a required element)?

Or is there a specific stage ideas can be in like as long as a story isn't in a formatted script... Or is it as long as the cameras haven't shot anything yet.


Lots of good ideas for the next fest btw, I still think that having one character slapped by another should be the required element regardless of genre or theme.
 
Adapting a pre-existing script has been done in the past as far as I know, and is generally acceptable.

The main thing is that the film is made from the dates specified and that it meets the required elements for the fest.

But, taking and adapting a previous idea or script (as far as I know) should be fine... But, you can always pm Larry or Barry S and get the for sure on that.

I haven't read all of them, but what about

Trailer Fest (kinda like AdFest)

Instead of a name of a product, the movie title must (or something similar) must have a constant. so instead of a 5 minute short, make a 2 minute trailer, or something.

Just thought I would throw that out there.
 
Along the line of the politcalfest, what about a "conspiracy" fest. Just put things like 9/11 or JFK assassination off limits.

It would just have to be in the realm of like an oliver stone film.

i don't know if trailer fest should be a minifest. I would expect it to take as much time as a regular fest, because it necessitates (usually) a lot of location changes.
 
Just saw religon fest, buuuut.... I can see where that could lead to some very controversial type things.
 
And it's not allowed under standard forum rules, along with Porn Fest and Politics Fest.

Now if we put the three together ... then maybe ... :)
 
Opinion Fest. Everyone has to in the video have their own opinion and support it. Either the video being about why Robbie is cool, or why Jack is cool.

Kinda like an essay.
