Hello Guys,
First big hello and respect to evreyobody this is my first post!
I need help with buying equipment for my studio.
I am currently using:
Mac Pro 2.66 Quad Core, 5 mb RAM, 8800 Nvidia 512 Graphics Card and with 1TB space 2x samsung 22inch. I have Org Software FCP2, AE 7.0 and Cinema 4D. Mostly i am into graphics and SE but i am slowly getting clients for TV production so i need to buy pro TV equipment so i can check and refernce stuff for tv and ofcourse work better. I know this is kind of noobish but if anybody could me suggest what Pro TV(LCD or CRT) and what graphics card (aya or black magic) should i buy! i know there are alot experienced people, so please tell me other than this what else should i buy for tv production(for EUROPE).
Any advice would be helpfull!

I found this is this ok or? I mean without macpro.

Only 5 mb of ram, dont think that is even enough to run the calculator :undecided

do you just want a monitoring system or do you need a complete studio solution ??

With the proper equipment you can use your ordinary HDTV or even your computer monitor as a HD production monitor, which is cheaper than buying a true HD production monitor.

You´re question just isn´t very clear...

Are yiu going to do more video (live footage) postpro and want good monitoring?
Do you need a way to attach tape decks to the Mac...?
Will you actually shoot stuff?

David S.@ no need for cam, just equipment that you pro are using.

Matthew R. Rodwell@ sorry i mean GB i tought you ll figure yhat out.

Dxmetal@ if somebody have complete solution and he is satesfied than give me all the advices you can. I am curently looking for reference Pro broadcast TV and pro graphics card(AJA, BM...) to work with HD, SD, so i can export good quality video for tv broadcast. If you have solution about conneting to the ordinary tv please tell, but i am looking for complete pro solution for video producton and post production...so any advice would be helpfull.

Spartacus @ YES, YES, NO i will in most cases get footage from others.

lol I knew what you ment, I was just giving you a hard time :D

Aja kona LHe should do for most jobs, you will be able to connect all sort of decks and capture in Apples proRes codec...
If you´re doing Sd work check JVC, they have CRT at a reasonable price (add the SDI option...)
For HD I would say depends on the "league of quality" your playing in, for what I do a good Eizo or Quato LCD (via HDMI or Matrox MXO...) does the job.
I´d also go for a external sATA Raid, G-Raid, Dulce and CalDigit are popular brands.
Sony, Pana and JVC all offer highend production LCDs.

Thanks Spartacus, it helps alot...i was thinking AJA and JVC then i come across the question LCD or CRT...som say that crt are finished and LCDs are coming to play...what do you think....and i come across this one.

Is this tv for HD and SD testing or just for SD?

regards
Many here use the Pana, I rent it when I shoot with "bigger" cams, couldn´t justify a purchase for our editing needs though yet...
Iif I were you, I´d try to score a used Sony CRT on the bay first and when demand for your editing skills raises invest in the Pana or the JVC LCDs...

They are really good, i looked into them a little bit more and it all makes sense and creates good workflow!

Thanks alot!!!

Also thanks to everybody who helped! I ll get back to you when i start to rock. :)

You don't need fibre. Like Spartacus said, go with an Esata raid. is cheaper and can do just as many streams as fiber at a much cheaper cost.
