32 gig P2 card....???

I was wondering how much footage will the 32 gig p2 card hold? I know it depends on the footage. But lets say 1080 for starter?

off subject: I currently own a canon a1 and use a firesstore drive. These drives have been constantly giving me problems with something I can call droped frames. Its weird it kind of dropes frames but mixes the frames together. Example imagine 1 2 and 3 where frames recorded. Its gets frame 1 then drops 2 but picks up 3 so it looks like some kind of digitized skip. I will post a clip of what I mean so you guys can see. Well basicly I was thinking of switching to hvx200 and the p2 card process. Is it any better and is this a stupid move on my part or a smart move. I am not just moving because of the p2 card ssytem but I just like the hvx200 overall. Thanks guys...

1080i will give you about 32 minutes. SD will give you about 64 minutes. There are lots of discussions about the variables on this forum.

Sounds like your other issue might be your edit system not doing the pulldown correctly. Just a quick guess with the info you gave.
Good luck.

wow great chart thanks. Exactly what I was looking for. Let me ask you. Are there any "aftermarket" P2 cards that are sold that might be bigger and hold more footage? Or is the 32GB all there is???

32 is the biggest so far, hopefully 64s will be out this year. and currently there are no after market manufacturers. although fuji is rumored to be working on one.

i use an fs100 with my hvx and i get amazing resullts with it.

Fuji's not rumored, they're announced. Fuji is making P2 cards, and they're supposed to hit the market sometime in this 1Q 2008.

so at 1080 60i its 32 min. Can you do 1080 at 24fps?? if so how much time should I get from that? One hour? thanks

Well, for the guys who gave me some meaning full information thank you. For the guys that are angry because they feel I was wasting their time I am sorry but if you come to think about it you must not have much on your hands anyways because then you wouldn't have posted anything on here to begin with. Have a great day gentlemen.

Well, I'm sorry I took it the wrong way. Thanks for the info you guys have provided. I did try to search but I didn't find what I needed. Does anybody here use this system for weddings with the P2 cards? I really want to use this camara with the cards but it seems near to impossible unless I waste like 7 grand on P2 cards...any suggestions? I know about the firestore but I rather not use that. thanks

if you have 2 8gb cards and someone there with a laptop to offload cards you can easily do a wedding. it would be a helluva lot easier with 2 16s or 2 32s. but i've shot a wedding with cards and a wedding with a firestore, and its a lot easier and less stressfull using the firestore.

Barry,

How much record time will you have in 720p native?

I'm thinking I should be able to get double what I get from my 16gb cards which will equal 84min. I believe.

Oops, I see that donavanfilm has already answered my question.
