32 gig P2 card....???

Yea that's what I was thinking of doing. Now I know this is a stupid question but I read the chart that was posted here and its says something about 720 24pn what does the "pn" stand for? I noticed you get much more recording time in those modes. Also what kind of computer did you off load to? Mac or Pc?? thanks

the 720 24p (N) mean native recording. it records 24 frames per second, no pulldown removal needed. whereas in the 720 24p mode, its in a 60i format and you have to remove the pulldown in post.

i was offloading to a macbook pro using duel systems adapter. but that doesn't really matter. as an 8gb card can be downloaded in about 8 minutes or less(about 5mins using my mbp and duel adapter). and you get 16mins of record time in 24pn. so as long as your offloader knows what they are doing you should be fine.

where can I get that duel systems adapter? I am going to google it now. also when you recorded the weddings you recorded in 720p not 1080? last question when you are recording do you need to stop recording in order to swap the cards? and lastly you obviously had your mac connected to an external drive or you stored it right in the mac? thanks again for your time.

if you googled duel systems adapter you probably found that you can buy it on their website. but there is a guy selling one in the marketplace for $80

yes i was shooting in 720, 24pn.

you can hot swap cards while recording, which means you can kind of record forever as long as you keep removing full card and inserting and empty one.

stored to computer.

What about if a client want 1080 have you guys tried capturing in 720p 24pn then up converting it to 1080? Does this camara capture 1080p??

Yes, this cam captures 1080p. I'd suggest sitting down with the HVX manual and Barry's Book on the HVX, it will answer lots of your questions.
Converting to higher resolution from a lower one is called "upresing" or "uprezing", and doesn't provide great results. If it worked well, we would all be shooting on the DVX and just scaling it up to HD.

Very true. Thanks for the help. The only reason I was asking is because of the amount of time you have on the cards. Unfortunately I have not bought the camera yet. I am trying to get a feel for it by reading other peoples post.
