Premiere 6.5: good choice for DVX100A?

You'll have to spoot 24p (as opposed to 24pA) and edit in a 29.976 timeline (same as 60i). I havent used 6.5 for years.

Unless I'm remembering incorrectly, 6.5 doesn't offer real time FX, either. Don't you have to render everything, or have I lost my mind?

Yeah Pro2.0 is bitchen. I'd still be using it if I didnt have CS3. What you gotta do is look around eBay or such for unopened copys.

sorry to hijack your thread. what about premiere pro 7? i currently use it with my VX2100. but i'm planning to sell it and get a DVX. will a DVX work with premiere pro 7? info would be greatly appreciated.

thanks a bunch.

There is no "Premiere Pro 7" (didn't even Adobe make this mistake in branding at some point?)

Premiere 7 = Premiere Pro 1

Flow went like this (as far as major versions go, there where some smaller updates in between).
...
Premiere 4
Premiere 5
Premiere 6
Premiere 6.5 <<== Added 'native' DV support
Premiere Pro 1 / ("Premiere 7") <<== New engine/total rebuild, true YUV processing, no un-necesarry rendering.
Premiere Pro 1.5
Premiere Pro CS2
Premiere Pro CS3
Premiere Pro CS3.1 <<== Added P2/MXF support, current version, kicks ass.
