Didnt get free P2 card with camera!

I bought an HVX200 from a US dealer right down from my house. There called CALUMET PHOTOGRAPHIC and i think personally they beat B&H. When i got home and went onto DVXuser i noticed the banner for the free card, i double checked the box and nothing!

Should i just be able to go back to CALUMET and get a free card, or am i going to have to return my camera and get a camera with the card shipped to me?

The manager said the camera had been in their store sense november so i lucked out by one month.....but i made the purchase today so do i still qualify?

Thanks,
Mike

I don't know if they're authorized or not. If Calumet is an authorized dealer, and you bought in December (or whenever the promotion began), then they have to honor the promotion and you absolutely will get a free 16GB card.

If Calumet is not an authorized dealer, you're flat out of luck and you just learned a good reason why you should always buy from an authorized dealer.

Of course it could always be there and I somehow have overlooked it, but:

I've often wondered why there isn't a readily available and up to date "authorized dealer" list on the Panasonic website? Would sure take a lot of the mystery out of it, no?

I know that we have stock from before this promo and we're honoring the free P2 Card.

i've bought from calumet before. when i got my monitor and it was defective they bent over backwards to get me another one next day shipping. no hassles or problems. call them. should be a simple yes or no solution. sounds like the ball's in their court really though.

I am calling them today when they open, by the time i figured out the P2 card promotion they had already closed for the day.

Just a side note i want to congratulate Panasonic on making such an amazing tool! I have not been able to use the DVCPRO codecs yet, but shooting on DV tape is tons better then that of my old XL2 which i had or even my DVX100A! Very Nice!

Glad it all ended well.
Once again though - a reminder to people that there are very good reasons to buy from Authorized dealers.
If you had happened to buy from someone that was not an authorized dealer, they could have easily said "yeah...sorry"

so is Calumet an authorized dealer or not? i haven't made any major purchases from them, but they've been great with the few things i have bought.

12/16/2007 Note . . . Interesting how this comment receives absolutely no attention. Prospective buyers of $5000 (or more) cameras should'nt have to go to "crooked dealers dot com" or elsewhere for a reliable list. With all the hoop-de-do about grey market product it should be readily available on the Panasonic website--it would be in their interest to do so (and provide a valuble buying tool for prospective customers). WHY ISN'T IT?

it is. see post #2.

Jeff- When I click on that link I am getting the panasonic page that shows the HVX200. I am not seeing the place to type in the number code in the rest of the post . . . but then that may just be may (I have a tendancy to overlook the obvious).

BTW, my name is David Regenthal, thus the screen name "dregenthal" . . . never could get next to "I'mfreak'nHVXJunkieMovieMakercooldude" or stuff like that <g>. Didn't see the need to have it in my sig as well. Thanks.
