Any Powered Firewire 400 Portable Hard Drives??

It seem crazy that no one has developed a powered firewire HDD to accomodate the hvx... the G-tech Graid mini 320gb states "A small power supply is included with G-RAID mini to power the device when attached to a 4-pin FireWire" but that's all the info they give. it's $400+ but still much cheaper than firestore. anyone found a portable power supply for a portable firewire HDD??

The Firestore is a DVCProHD capture device. The G RAID Mini is an bus and AC powered HDD.

They do different things.

Saying that it is much cheaper than the Firestore doesn't reflect the total differences between the devices

fair enough David, but I want a portable, battery powered, firewire HDD to dump my 16gb cards into. This way my capture device does not have to be hooked-up by a cable (ala the firestore)... are there any out there? I figure 320GB for 16 GB cards due to the way the hvx partitions the HDD (although some space will be wasted)

* will the 16gb cards "dunp" DVCProHD info into a standard HDD formatted by the HVX?

Get a Nexto 2525 enclosure. Put your own hard disk in there, the Nexto has enough battery to support about 110 GB of offloading.

Thanks for the info BG... your like Da Vinci for HVX... "well, turns out that the master slept only twenty minutes every
three hours." sorry for the cheap Seinfeld reference/quote

Wouldn't a USB otg drive work as well?

What are the benefits of using a powered Firewire drive over a USB OTG drive?
