Hello, hope your Monday is progressing spectacularly.

Please check out 2 CENTERMETERS on YouTube or, preferably, in HD on VUZE. Team Jackass Penguin won Best Cinematography, Best Props, and Best Costumes.

I'm happy to answer any questions. All feedback is appreciated!

TheComo,

I'm assuming you're referring to the VUZE version... For VUZE you need to download the VUZE program, as far as I know, at www.vuze.com. From there you will be downloading a MOV file. If you still have problems let me know. That is currently the only way to view it in HD. But if others have issues and want to see it in high def I will perhaps provide another link for members of this community.

Thanks!

TheComo,

So if the download is completed, you should just be able to double click it, or open the MOV file from wherever you downloaded it to (probably the Azureus download folder)

Screw it didn't work. ITs done tho.

I watched it on youtube, and i really liked it. I dont get the whole 2 centimeters tho lol

when i was a kid there was one scene from one film that horrified me and stuck with me for a long time. In Texas Chainsaw Masacre, leatherface drags a screaming and kicking girl down a hallway and into a room full of meat hooks. He picks her up and plops her down onto one of the hooks while she's still screaming. the hook causes her to stop screaming very quickly. Then leartherface slams the metal sliding door of the room shut.

Im sure most of us know the scene. What makes it disturbing is how Leatherface handles the screaming girl like he would handle any other peice of meat. But on a deeper level, what really makes this scene hard to watch is that one second she's kicking and screaming and full of life, and a second later she's hanging limp on a hook, barely conscious with her life slipping away.

The scene was brilliantly shot. It was short, fast, realistic, disorientating, and most important, unapologetic.

The way you shot that scene with the young girl (I'm wont spoil it) totally brought me back to that feeling i got when i first saw TCM. I actually had trouble sleeping last night

So for that i must congradulate you...it was the most disturbing thing Ive seen in a long time

HerzogisGod:

I imagine only in the creation of horror can one experience the fiendish pleasure one feels when such feelings are garnered from your creation. I feel great that it affected you in such a way, is that wrong?

Ha ha, thank you very much for your feedback.

I was actually quite surprised by the audience reactions when we screened... I guess I was numb to it, I expected it to be more laughter, but when I heard the audience around me was repulsed and grossed out, genuinely, that felt great.

Makes me want to create more horror. :)

oh yea, it was a total compliment. Anything that affects me in any way gets a big thumbs up in my book. I watched the trailers for your feature...I really like your style. Ive been making documentary films for the last 10 years, and Im about to start on my first feature.

good luck :)

Yeah, that scene was good. Quite good. Really good :)

The rest... meh. The worst aspect of all this: the acting (except the tied-up girl who was good throughout), it really sinks the whole thing. I can't say I blame the filmmakers here though... getting good performances on low budge films is a nightmare, and if you get good acting from non-actors, you just got lucky. So again, I don't blame the filmmakers for the totally atrocious acting.

OldCorpse,

Wow, well in the actors defense, the characters are meant to be way over the top, and this was for a 48 Hour Film Festival.

Thanks for your feedback.

My problem is with the camera work. Especially in the opening scene. It was painfully obvious with the zooming and such that a camera was involved, and that always takes me out of it.

The trick is to show us the happenings... almost as if we are a part of it.

The rest of the movie was pretty good, especially for a 48 hour fest.
Well done.

Cheers,

Mike

Kyser: Thank you for your feedback.

Yes that opening shot I'm not entirely happy with. There is a story behind it. The story is that our Firestore stopped working inexplicably, all we had of that coverage was that shot. We had to scramble and improvise to get the final shots done because of this. The original cut we jump even sooner, I left it in the extended HD cut because there are extra story details in their conversation. Not defending, I agree that the erratic zooming is distracting, just elaborating.

Man, that's really too bad. That explains quite a lot actually.

Cheers,

Kyser,

The 48 Hour type film festivals can certainly throw you curveballs, but that is part of the fun. We did the best we could... It was a great experience. Thank you for watching the short!

Done in 48 hours? Wow, that's extremely impressive. As was already said, the opening shot was distracting, and the sound wasn't too great their either. I could hear the actors, but the ambiance sounded almost like an in-camera mic.

Effects and lighting were fantastic. The light through smoke shot at 2:42 was incredible. The two girls were the best actors, and the others did above average jobs as well.

Nice work.

Keith, thanks for the kind words!

Gohanto,
We were lucky to have an awesome team and Joel Musch as a Co-Everything (Director, Producer, etc). I'm at a point now where I have a team that I can count on, that can work like a well oiled machine. It is a great feeling when you have friends who you have worked with on numerous projects who you can mobilize at a moments notice into a well oiled filmmaking machine that's unstoppable... until a Firestore craps out on you that is, ha ha. That smoke shot turned out so well and yet it was so simple, it was actually during the day and we were shooting a 20 dollar smoke machine directly at the window...

Thanks again for all of the feedback and keep it comin.
