I am going to be shooting several hours of stationary timelapse. Likely in the range of 4-6 straight hours. Being that tapes are only an hour, whats the most seemless way to shoot multiple hours of time lapse?

And whats the best framerate? If I'm shooting 4 hours and condensing it to 30 minutes or even less, whats the best setup?

Thanks!!

Tom,
DV Rack, now known as Adobe OnLocation, will do timelapse by only recording every X number of frames in the video stream. It will do HDV although it's a bit trickier due to interframe compression.

Adobe OnLocation is now bundled with Premiere Pro CS3. I don't think you can buy it seperately anymore. You might check other similar software to see if they also do the timelapse.

Doesn't the Canon Console Software do that too?

Free trial here: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/c...egoryid=102&keycode=console_software_download

You can only get a 2 hour timelapse out of it and the video can only be 5 minutes long. But if you're willing to pay a thousand dollars you can get it here: http://www.amazon.com/Canon-Console-Control-Software-Camcorders/dp/B000LXXOWC I don't think it's worth it though.

You can take a look at this DVinfo thread about the XL H1 timelapse: http://dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=90662

Yes the Firestore is the best for no workstation. And as Chris Hurd mentioned in the DVinfo thread, the pro version of the FS-4 has a timelapse feature. So you can take days of timelapse on it. But in DV not HDV.

Can you post a link to that information?

I never knew this.....
