If I'm not mistaken it's actually a remake of this film:

Personally, I think JDS has done a great job of taking that original visual style and making it his own.

Look at your second screen grab carefully, the bottom right corner, is that a little vignetting or did you get your thumb in the shot?

Funny, I was just thining to myself that in a year or so someone was going to stumble across this thread using the search function and wonder what they were missing because all the grabs were black...thinking the pictures didn't load.
