Adobe CS3 P2 is here!! - After Effects P2 support coming soon confirmed!

On the Mac side, you can export to p2 volume/card and it creates a CONTENTS folder with the six associated folders with mxf data.

Nice.

...i sure hope ADOBE is paying attention here and supports the same native P2 workflow in After Affects..!

Thats very important to many users, working on Edius 4 example....i would immediatly pay the update to CS3 when they would do a patch....in any other case its not really worth it to me...so pleaaaase Adobe!!

Anybody who can ask for this on the Adobe forum?
I am sick of getting a new login each and every 6 month...

Although I'm not certain of this yet, I noticed some sync issues when exporting to p2 card from a timeline.

More later.

The updater will be available for download next week. The 3.1 update is currently only available under the menu Help>Updates.

We are currently working on AfterEffectsCS3 support for the PremiereProCS3 P2 workflow.Since we use native P2/MXF , it should work with P2 workflows. You can expect to see it in an up coming AfterEffects update before the end of the year - Hopefully in the next few weeks. I am currently planning a video on AfterEffects P2 workflow so you guys can see it in action before it's released.

thanks,

DKH

Welcome to DVXuser DKH!

Thankyou for your (very encouraging) information.
I assume you work for Adobe?

Yes, that's very cool but the first bug is also here :).

I tried importing a 50 fps clip, recorded on a Firestore and it says its 25 fps.

Didn't find solution so far.

Could be from that firestore thing, dunno.

Thats great to hear,

are you the guy we also find at the page of the AdobeP2 information?

Just curious how "inside" your information with AE-P2-native support till the end of the year is...!

That would be great to me...if everything works, ill get the update then...!

I've seen that quote on that adobe guys blog so it's legit. It's that guy who made the PR video about Premiere use that skirted the After FX issue...remember. Hopefully in a few weeks and by the end of the year, huh? Again who do these Adobe guys think they are RED.

Actually I'll bet it'll happen in a month....two at the most.

Hey, cut me some slack

Hey, cut me some slack

Guys, I know it's frustrating, I always try and shoot straight - I wasn't really skirting the AE P2 issue. I was actually in the Middle East doing the GITEX show (their NAB/CES) at the same time IBC was going on and missed the fact that the AE team went ahead and announced AEs support for P2. I thought it would be much further out.

All of our efforts now are on the video suite workflow and codec support accross the suite is key. 10 minutes after talking to the AE team, I was downloading the internal AE P2 beta update. It's really looking good and fast. I'll be starting work on a quick video next week so you guys can take a look. The plan is to release the update before the end of the year.Hopefully sooner than later. The next AE update includes a few other changes and fixes and is not just about P2.

Hope this helps....Yes - I do work for Adobe.

Keep in mind, my logon is dhelmly not videodude or some other name to hide behind.

Dave,
Thank you again for your participation here on DVXuser. We always welcome new members, and especially those that represent the manufacturers that we depend on. :dankk2:

Appologies for some of the skeptisism. As you can imagine, a lot of rumors fly around the web, so people can be pretty pickey and questioning about their sources sometimes (often with good reason of course). So please excuse the "detective work" surrounding your initial comments.

Once again, thanks for taking the time to answer our questions; and we look forwards to the updates you are working on.

Hi there!

Well, I already install the update for PP3.0, but when I try to import my P2 video content in to premiere, it says thet the file is damaged or the file type is not supported, can any body help on this?

I tested my clips with P2 viewer and I can see them, also I converted with Aspect HD and OK.

Thanks in advance

if you have the raylight plugin be sure to remove it from PPRO or it tends to mess things up. other than that, try running the update again because it sounds like it didnt take too well. it wen t pretty flawless for me so i really dont know what else to try for you.

Thanks a lot dhelmy, thats indeed great news...i am really looking forward to see how it works!
This will be a perfect workflow for a lot of P2 users, specially from Edius, working with AAF export and importing it as AAF in AE again...that will be the sweetest workflow..like in the good old days of premiere-projects opened for post in AE...Thanks!

Man life is gonna be great when I can open up my premiere project in After effects running straight from the p2 files and I can do searchs with meta data. Don't forget to upgrade bridge also.
