How to export/record material back to P2 card

Hopefully there is solution for this. I want to put my clips back to P2 card to be able to play back them from p2 using component out. Is there any way to do it? I'm using FCP 6.

You can't edit, then put back some clips on a P2 card. To be accurate, AFAIK there's no tool that will do let you rebuild the structure and format that the camera expects. For the camera to recognize what's on the card, it has to be written by a camera or be the exact copy of another card.

If you just want to put the contents of a card back again, then simply copy all the files and folders (without altering the structure) and it should work fine.

You can do it, but not as easily as on other platforms.

You can "print to video" and record the incoming data stream on an HVX200, for example. FCP includes instructions on how to do that. But if you're not using an HVX200 as your card reader, you're kind of hosed on that workflow -- for example, someone using a PCD20, or a P2 Store, or a Duel Adapter or Powerbook G4 slot, won't be able to do that.

Raylight makes it possible to export files back to the P2 card though, regardless of what kind of slot reader you're using. If you're looking for a well-rounded solution to this issue, just get Raylight.

The new Raylight 2.0.1 for Macintosh will take an exported FCP sequence and create a virtual p2 card that can be copied back to a real p2 card.

Work well.

Edius Broadcast can also output back to MXF format, either on physical P2 cards mounted on the PC, or to a location on your hard drive.

If the sequence being output doesn't fit on a single card, it will optionally automatically continue outputting to another mounted card, or wait for you to manually swap cards.

Thanks! Does the "print to video" affect the quality (can I get 1080p material back to card by printing?)...

After testing with Raylight Demo, I have run in to problems with P2 Cards. My Mac tells my I can read only. Any solutions for this!

No

Yes

1. Make sure the card is not write protected with the tab.

2. If the card is in the camera, use the USB connection to the camera not Firewire.

3. Try removing the lock on the LASTCLIP.TXT file. If you can do that, the card is ready for writing.

4. Put the tab back to write protect after you have what you need on the card.
