Should I transcode HVX DV from tape to DVCpro50 in FCP?

Hey,
I just had to shoot the rest of an event on tape, because I didn´t have time to unload the P2 cards the second time I would have had to (event stuff always seem to come out different as planed:nads:).
The beginning was shot DV50, so I was wondering if I could capture the tape to a DVCpro50 project and get somehow better (or at least not worse results...)?
Do I gain sth from the better colorspace?
Or will the transcoding/recompression worsen things?
Any help appreciated, I need to catch some sleep now...

Thanks Ned,
I was just wondering, beause some people transcode HDV to a 4:2:2 color space for editing and grading and have stated better results.
The DV footage on tape is 4:2:0 in may case (PAL), what should already be slightly better than 4:1:1 and I also havn´t mixed codecs so far in one timeline (and I´m not even sure this works with FCP 5.1.4...) so I thought I may have to transcode anyway...

Be sure to work in a 4:2:2 timeline though, that way any CC and other effects will be rendered as 4:2:2 .. sure, your original footge can't be 'improved', but any new output should still be done at 4:2:2

Thanks,
could someone nevertheless clarify for me, if I should capture DV or DVCpro50?
Or capture as recorded, DV, and simply import it to the DVCpro50 4:2:2 project I will edit the P2 stuff in...?
Thank you all!
