Duel-Systems Adapter has been officially released

Thanks Matt- what's your processing speed, do you think I should upgrade my powerbook for a faster processing speed - will it make much of a difference, in your opinion? What bus powered FW drive do you use?

Thanks Again - Alex

The actual processor won't matter for the transfer that much.

For the FW drive, its just a regular notebook drive in a bus-powered shell.

Cheap and it works.

there is a new beta driver for mac OS 10.4.9. If it doesn´t work (may be too risky for original footage) u can either use Parallels or VMware and try to instal the WIN XP drivers

Ok...I guess I'll buy the other brand...snicker....

Anybody know if this DualAdapter is working flawlessly yet - and whether it is good to go for 10.4.10?

I've been using 10.4.10 and FCS2 (6.01) with no problems. Never installed a thing from Duel, just the Panny stuff. I still have to reboot every time I remove the device, but other than that it's been great.

OCTOBER 26, 2007

Just got dual-systems device today.

Reads my 16gb P2 cards, but not my 8gb cards. Also, when I eject the 16gb cards, I have to then remove the entire system from it's slot, reinstall it (push it back in) and then insert a new card.

Running OSX 10.4.10 & FCP suite 2

Is this thing still a problem??? It is for me, I downoaded the latest drivers from duel-systems site--it said is was beta.

Anyone have a solution for this? or Duel-systems have a solution yet??

Thanks....

CLARIFICATION:

So, now I see that I can read all of my 16gb P2 cards on the duel systems reader. However, I CAN NOT read any of my 8gb cards AT ALL.

Anyone else have the same issue? Any fixes?? I presume it must be a driver conflict.

Thanks for any information,

never had a problem with mine.
there should be a non beta driver there -
also the driver for the panasonic p2 drive works well with it too - in fact thats all ive ever installed

No problem for me either. Be sure to put the write protect on the card before downloading, wihout problem.

Hi:

I just bought a new MBP last week and ordered the Duel Systems adapter right afterwards. So far, it all works very well, did a shoot yesterday with a mix of 8GB and 16GB cards with no issues at all.

After reading this thread, I was prepared for the worst but after updating to the latest Panasonic driver, then the latest Duel driver, no issues at all, works just like my PowerBook that died did. I am very pleasantly surprised.

Sorry that so many of you appear to be having major issues with the Duel and MBP, guess I got lucky.

Works with 8 Gb and 16 Gb cards for me.

BTW, it also works with Leopard so long as the p2 card driver is installed.

The Addonics adapter still doesn't work

I just got my duel adapter this week and it reads both 16s and 8s fine.

could it be a driver issue, for example did you install an earlier version and then later try to upgrade? I ask because mine is a fresh install of P2 an duel drivers.

For anyone who's curious, I just talked to customer service about DuelAdapter compatibility with OSX 10.4.11 and they said a new driver would be released within the next week.

I'm a little surprised . . you'd think the current driver would be fine. Anyone tried their DuelAdapter with 10.4.11?

I just wanted to add on the Dualadapter if some of you are still having issues with the card you must start up your pc with the adapter plugged in for the 32 bit drivers to load up in the bios then unplug the card reinsert and add your cardbus it will work fine. I figured this out after 2 days of headaches and reading the microsoft web site under (cardbus firmware not configured to run in 32 bit mode) Hope this helps someone Thanks
