RED Officialy Shipping Next Friday -- thoughts? Any feelings?

Barry G., have you been at all involved in the Red program? Will you be getting one any time soon?

I'd be very curious to see a hands on review from you specifically...

I'm Red #364. I'm not "involved" in it (as in, working with the Red company or helping design it or anything); basically Jarred and I have split up duties -- he spends all his forum time on RedUser, and I spend all my forum time administering DVXUser. I haven't spent any time posting on RedUser because Jarred's got that all handled.

Mine is supposed to arrive around November 10th, but there's a good chance that I'll be doing some short films with one at the end of September/early October.

Barry, you do know that we are all waiting for your "hands on review article". :)

And if you are in a mood for some fun, you could always compare some of these lower end cameras.

I for one would be interested in seeing a re-enactment of the "fan test" at 120fps.

HV20 vs RED would be a massac.. eh.. awsome. :)

I for one am excited, and am looking forward to shooting on one. Its a beautiful revolutionary piece of technology. I wonder what Jim's next project will be.

I stopped visiting Reduser.net because the fanboyism just got beyond my tolerance levels.

You mean threads like this:

Jannard: Just wanted to let everyone know we decided to use philips head screws on the rear bracket instead of of flat head screws.

Fanboy #1: Awesome news Jim!
Fanboy #2: You rock Jim!
Fanboy #3: I bet Sony uses flat head screws, idiots.
Fanboy #4: You're a God Jim.
Fanboy #5: Philips head screws - yes!!! The revolution has begun!!!
