My 16 gB P2 Rebate card came in!

Just received my card today...paper work turned in the beginning of April...

I had e-mailed the rebate center on July 16 to check on the status of my order and was sent back a reply stating it would be in the next shipment...but no date was mentioned...more recently however I did e-mail Jan and received a quick reply with shipping info...

I certainly was anxious and frustrated about the time it took to get the card but it didn't stop me from using my camera...just rent cards or a firestore (handy to have a friend with them as well) and pass the rental fee to the client...

I received my 16GB card today! I could not believe it, but it is true. I was thrown off though because it came in a small padded envelope and was in my mailbox with all the other letters, magazines, etc. The return address did not say Panasonic. So, I didn't open it right away. About an hour later I was running some errands and thought I would look at my mail. I noticed that the envelope label read "UPS" on it (isn't that a no no for UPS to put deliveries in mail boxes?). Low-and-behold, it was my P2.

Once I got home I popped the P2 in my HVX and I got "INCOMPATIBLE CARD." WTF? My camera is updated and the card is not recognized either--so, no in-camera formatting. After reading several back-posts a few minutes ago, I read that the card is bad and needs to be sent back!

Unless anybody has a cure for what ails me, it looks like I am going to have to deal with the bad card exchange mess. As if waiting for over 17 weeks to get the card wasn't bad enough.

I guess I will email Jan Crittenden now. I emailed her a few weeks ago and she replied very quickly and I was happy about that. So, Jan, if you are reading this, I need help ASAP.

I bought my HVX200 a year ago (in august). I sent in all of my paper work along with applying for the rebate-gift online like all others did. Do i not qualify due to the fact that it was bought a year ago? i still haven't recieved anything yet.

Not even close.

The free P2 card offer covered a limited purchase period, required purchase from an authorized dealer, and submitting the paperwork for the P2 card by the end of April.

Does this mean we might see a bigger population of 16GB cards hit the shelves soon? I ordered a card from Full Compass back in early June, and I was put on a list to receive one in July. I've been put off until the end of August.

That would be assuming they have sent out all the cards they owe to buyers. They have not. I love the camera, but this really has left a sour taste in my mouth for Panasonic. I've gone the whole summer getting by on a 4 gig card that I purchased with the camera and have gone every week thinking that it will just come next week. Well, now the Summer is over and it still has not arrived. I was happy when they promised a 16 Gig card, but now I think I deserve two 16 Gig cards for my trouble. I also think it is time for a lawsuit against Panasonic. Are their any lawyers out there? Does anyone know any? I think this would make a great class-action lawsuit.

Hi,

If you have not received your card, and you have not recieved a certified letter from me then there is something seriously wrong with your claim. We have sent out every card that we have full documentation for and the letter went to folks that we have the claim but no invoice. So if you have not gotten either of these you have a problem. Please contact via PM and give me all the particulars on your camera purchase and we can go from there. Please include the claim number and your serial number and the address which you registered.

Keep in mind a class action law-suit is very expensive and has to show negative intent. Trust me there is no negative intent and if someone has fallen through the crack, I will help to get them out. Failure to make the claim during the posted time frame does not count however, because as a manufacturer you are allowed to have windows of opportunity.

Anyhow I look forward to hearing from you, Tony.

Thanks,

Jan

I got mine last week.

My confirmation # was 186**. I don't know if Panny is going in any particular order, but if you're around the 18 thousand/19 thousand number count, maybe yours is right around the corner?

It's coming!

It's coming!

I just got an email saying it is being sent via UPS. I'll be pretty happy when it gets here. I'm not sure what the issue was, but Jan got it figured out for me. Thanks Jan!

Not exactly.

A class action is intended to improve court efficiency by allowing a large group of people with similar claims to join together in one lawsuit.

You need to prove that the actions of the defendant affect so many people that it is more practical for a few representative plaintiffs to address the claims than for all the individual plaintiffs to join together in a regular lawsuit.

Generally this is many many more than those affected here.

There other very specific requirements.

THIS IS HARDLY THE CASE HERE.

I strongly urge every body with concerns about the rebate to communicate with Jan to resolve the problems rather than consider litigation.

I practiced law and fair practices/consumer protection for nearly 30 years, and law suits, as Jan correctly observes, ARE expensive.

And Panasonic is expressing a willingness to help, which clear from Jan's posts at the board and elsewhere.

Start with her and the company first. It's a better course.
