Nikon User Thread

I worked a music video recently as a grip and I lugged my Nikon D70s around for some pictures on down time! I have many photos of the cars but I like this one the best! The cars are part of a car club in Orlando named Orlando Z Owners Club. OzOc.org

Nice detail Ming. Digging the colors.

FilmGizmo...you are right about the shot being a teeny bit on the soft side...but its a really nice shot nonetheless. I dig the natural light.

rlm...just wondering what is the best way to upload images and not get that compression. Should I downsize the image a little bit more or what?

Oh and one more thing. Just got a Nikon SB-600, comes in on Thursday. I can't wait. I have used this flash several times, mostly wireless. Will post some pics as soon as i get it.

I suck with a flash. I've read a lot of good material on using a flash but I'm still missing something fundamental and important because it all goes to hell in a handbasket in the field. I've got the SB-600.

I tried recompressing the image to see if I don't loose sharpness. We see what happens!

Hey, FilmGizmo...yeah that looks better...but it could be that it was a smaller image. If you have a sharp picture to begin with it should still be sharp when you export as JPEG. Are you resizing the image first or is your picture hosting sight doing that for you?

I usually just resize in Photoshop then export as is.

If you feel like throwing it pm me.

I have had some success with using the flash. Can't wait until it gets here tomorrow.

I looked at the image as raw and sharpened it, but it isn't all that sharp. The focus is a bit off! Just a tad though! Bummer, wish it was focused. I do resize before I upload to PhotoBucket though!

Got my Nikon SB-600 today. I was out playing some tennis with friends and on the off time I was able to get a couple of shots with a tennis ball! Enjoy!

sweeet! the colors and crispness of the court are amazing. awesome. I need to rent one of these to see how much I'll love it!...

Awesome. Although I would like the focus to be on the ball.
You said the flah is wireless... can you take a photo of it? I want to see what it looks like when it is used. :)

Both the SB600 and the SB800 can be operated wirelessly as long as you have a camera that can control the flash wirelessly.

The difference between the two units essentially breaks down to the 800 being more powerful and having a shorter recycle time PLUS if you have something like a D50 that doesn't have a commander mode the 800 can control a 600 or 800 wirelessly.

If you have a D200 or D70 then the camera has a built in commander function so you don't need to worry about the 800 (unless you need the extra power).

If you are looking for the most trust color possible you really need a flash unit.
