I thaught it was easy... file>import>P2 But there is no P2 to be found in the 'import' list.

Maybe make a sticky with all stupid questions like this, cause i didn't find it but it must be answered a million times.

So adapters, just firewire to mac, straight from the cam

thanks a lot

if you mean the drivers that cam with the cam on a cd... yes
Camera settings are as they should be.
It is a 16g card. Do they also need a computer update ?

What version of FCP?
In FCP6, File > Log and Transfer.
(i'm 99% sure it's in the fcp manual)

Log and transfer.

Page 3 of the pdf What's New menu choice under help if in FCP6.

Also, the CD may have outdated drivers for a Intel Mac

You need to DETAIL HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE in your original post.

We can't see your set up from here.

sorry folks... problem solved. i don't know how but suddenly it worked. Maybe a small bug I don't know.

thanks anyway !

so David, what does pcdriver_macintel do? I just connect via 1394 and the cards mount, and I P2 Capture with FCP. I've never loaded any P2 software on my Mac Pro. What am I missing?

You get a free p2 card via a pop up menu once you install the driver.

I don't know Dick, but Panasonic recommends installing it, and that's what I did.

OK - I did a little research on the "pcdriver_macintel" driver software from Panasonic. It is NOT required and cannot be used on the Intel Macs, i.e. Mac Pro.

If you have a Mac Pro, you do not need to install any P2 drivers (unless you want to use P2 Store) to mount the cards, and if you have FCP, you can use that to import P2 MXF directly to FCP. I presume this is true for Macbook Pros as well but I don't have one, so I won't attest to that.

I downloaded the ZIP from Panny and read the text files. Also, as I stated earlier, I mount and capture P2 with my Mac Pro/FCP and I have never loaded any P2 software on it.

Dick:

My question relates to your assertion that it "cannot be used on Intel Macs."

The installer for the AJ-PCS060G states that:

"These application softwares does not supporting the Intel based Mac OS X computers."

But that is for the p2 store.

The other p2PC Card Installer is the "P2PCCard Install.pkg."

That is a different installer and relates to recognizing the p2.

Those are different.

I don't remember which file (I've since deleted the ZIP), but the gist was that it was not intended for Intel Macs. And regardless, its evident from persoanl experience that that software is completely unnecessary.
