Somebody with some time and a 3D program...

Raptor, I know its not finished yet but maybe with Caspers Consent you might want to do a mini tutorial and post it in a seperate thread here in the 3d section, so that others can see and hopefully learn.

I saw the tracking of the bottle that you did, and you did a pretty damn good job, considering the limitations.

I can try but it wont be for a few weeks as I'm wrapping up some other things too. I'll be happy when this is done.

/Casper, I'm going to pick up some files now and get at it.
// I don't see anything yet. Must still be uploading. I'll check back in later on.
// 7 hours later (3:28 am california time) I do not see anything yet. mmmm.

When your uploading I found it best not to be online somewhere else at the same time.
It stuck once for me when I was doing that. Just let it upload and dont multi-task online. It seems to want the entire connection for itself.

I see that three of the shots are up.
1A, 1C and 2A and something is still uploading.
Luckily the finisihed sequence will not be as big.

I have them now. One thing. The only program I have that supports filmstrips is photoshop. How do I convert the filmstrip to seperate images?

//Never mind. I'm back. Just finished writing a c++ program that does the conversion. So, back to work on the bottle. woohoo.

I have a problem with Label - Shot 1B.flm.
When I open it in photoshop I get this message 1/2 way through loading...

"This image is no longer a valid filmstrip(image size or number of channels has been altered) It cannot be saved in Filmstrip format."

So I click okay and it closes. I can decode it into an image sequence but the last several frames scroll vertically. Can you check the file at your end?
-Thanks

I don't know how to say this.
The new files are called 1B but are actually 1C.
Compare the file sizes.

So one more time. Take your time Casper and verify everything before you send it. :)

Stop the upload. BIG BIG problem

2A and 2B also have the same problem.
I took the files over to an Adobe Pro v7 and tried them on that to be sure and the same thing is happening.
The entire label is scrolling down the screen.
So maybe it is something in the compression or a difference in our flm formats ??? I don't know but I am not going to be able to use them. Don't send any more filmstrips.

I can send you a lo res avi that shows what I am talking about if you want.

So, how about rendering these off as an image sequence instead?. That way you can visually check the pictures and verify they all look fine. Then zip them up. Send 1 zip first and I'll verify it because we are using up alot of bandwidth and I'm getting worried.

I would prefer bitmap, tiff or .psd formats.

Or an avi ofcourse.

I don't know how to make an image-sequence. I think that's a non-adobe term or something. The only thing that premiere has as far as I know is the filmstrip.

An avi is fine, see below. I'll look into the adobe rendering of images and post what I find for future reference but don't worry about it for now.

Are ALL the files wrong? Or only the rar's or only the zip's? I hope it's this, than we know the problem....

1A and 1C are good.
1B, 2A and 2B are bad.

It also appears that 2A has some frames missing from the end as it does
not tie into 2B smoothly.
I tried both zip and rar and both were wrong.
I have not download the newest 1B.

Has it to do with the zip or the rar compression?

What I think has happened is that inside of the .flm file there is a leader bar between
each frame about 4to16 pixels high in the strip although it is not visible to the user. If that has been corrupted , changed,or missing
then I would see the effect that I am seeing. I suspect it happened somehow when the files were split up but I don't know. As you say they look fine on your end.

I have never had a problem with zip or rar corrupting the data but anything is possible.

I've uploaded "2a_bad_label_example.zip (48MB avi) to show you what I am seeing.
The problem begins at frame 272 in the actual .flm file.

I could render as uncompressed AVI. Those files are about the same size as the filmstrips. Give that a try?

Yes. You can upload a uncompressed avi, in a zip.
Play the rendered video in it's entirety before sending and look for what I'm seeing .
I know it takes a long time for you to upload and I don't know what has happened to the files yet.

Send 1 file first, say clip #1 complete then wait for me to check it and let you know. If it's okay I'll start working on it and you can begin uploading the next shot. I'm currently around DVX a few times a day.

You can also delete the old zips from the server as I have them anyways and it's looking a bit messy with so many versions. Leave the new1B up for now.
