Duel System PCMCIA / Express Card Adapter Beta Test

I am signed up to Beta test the Duel Systems PCMCIA / Express card adapter. It should hopefully arrive in 2 weeks. I will report my experience with the adapter when and if I get it.

its been great so far. Any problems , most of which i did not have on Macbook Pro C2D, were fixed very quickly.

4gb transfers in about 2:16 to internal 5400rpm drive. Sweet speed. Ive yet to lose a single bit of data in probably a couple hundred transfers.

Support has been amazing, Duel Systems did a top notch job. And they are like 3 miles from my office. (can see their sign off of the 880).

Can you go from P2 card to external portable usb bus powered hard drive via a Mac Book Pro C2D with no problems? (skip the process of putting it on the laptop hd)

do you have an actual production unit or a beta (like i assume)? how did you get it btw?
 
I have the beta unit, which , in my understanding, is the same inner workings , and from the looks of the store, the same housing as the retail unit, but wont be sure until they release and ship the retail units.

I was accepted into the Beta program, that is how i got it.

Now I understand why you said you had one when I pm you about this. : ) beta unit.
 
I placed my order as soon as they announced the pre-order program, but still no product. I much prefer later rather than sooner because that assures a product that will work rather than a "paid-beta" unit.

I just checked status on my order and it shows as shipped 4/24. No FedEx tracking number available yet, but I have high hopes. I've been waiting a long time for this and the wait is almost over!!!!
 
Can you talk more about how the Duel Sytem adaptor works into Macbook Pro? Will I need software such as P2 Log Pro to import into FCP or will FCP recognize it as a P2 Card import (Without being 1394 with HVX200 unit)

The cards are recognized just as if you were connecting the HVX through the 1394 device mode. The card pops up on the desktop (NO NAME) as it usually does.

FCP recognizes it if you want to directly capture from the card itself. Nothing different than what you do already. Except only BETTER!! SHYEAA
