Where to buy the HVX: a small guide.

Seconded on Studio Exchange. I bought mine there today for $4995! Talk to Paul. He was knowledgeable, helpful, and a decent guy. He even held the last camera for me when I called him the day before. I got there and the phone was ringing off the hook for the HVX but he had mine comitted even though I had never shopped there before and did not know him.

Awesome store, great price. I also bought my sticks there.

Great to hear more positive experiences with Studio-Exchange in Burbank, CA. I've been referring everyone to them (even people who are out of state. You wont believe the customer service Studio-Exchange offers. I wouldn't shop anywhere else but Studio Exchange (especially if you think you are going to need some help figuring stuff out.)

Studio-Exchange.com is their site. Great people. Glad to hear about more positive experiences.

Hey Domis....I bought mine there on your reccomendation. I was not disappointed. I've got a new supplier with them. They rock!

EVS (Express Video Supply)... Yeah, you guys remember Rush... well he's not back. However Tommy Mac is the MAN!!! My entire transaction took less than 10 minutes, the price was better than Studio Exchange, and I'm getting camera delivered by tomorrow!

Woooo hooo. Thanks EVS/Tommy and Panasonic Finance with your 2.99% finance option!

digitalcorp has good ratings, has several of these HVX200 new in box, says they are US models, For $3550 can it be true ?
I could see if it was a one off, but they've got multiple listings at the same price.

Does anyone (like Jan Crittenden) know if amazon.com is an authorized panasonic dealer?

Amazon is not a dealer at all, really. They are more an order processor. Then the item is fulfilled by anyone of their vendors that may have the product in stock. There is no telling what company it may come from. So, the answer is, don't expect any guarantee that you will receive warranties/rebates, etc. As far as I know...

Price looks too good to be true to me. I'm not saying it's definitely a scam. But, again, you can almost positively expect NOT to receive an authorized product.

If you want an Authorized product, buy from an Authorized dealer. If you want the assurance of knowing that you are getting a U.S. Authorized product, that carries the full warranty, and any applicable rebates, buy from an Authorized dealer. Otherwise, you are taking your chances.

Buy from an Authorized dealer = Certainty.
Don't buy from an Authorized dealer = Uncertainty of rebate, possible scam, etc, etc.

Deal, or no deal...

408 negatives out of 20300 total. not a bad percentage. I've found in my dealings that some people are just never happy. Whit that many transactions your gonna get a few of those type.
Still it seems too good to be true.

I'm in the market to buy a HVX200, and I saw the same thing on Ebay - digitalcorp (www.shopdigitalcorp.com). I've looked through the website and can't really tell one way or another. From what I've read here, I'm fairly sure they're not an authorized Panasonic dealer, but I'm not 100% on that.

Has anyone bought anything from them, or could advise on these sellers?

They list the HVX200 for $3,500 US. Sounds like a great deal, but I don't want to get screwed by anyone. I'm working with a budget of $13,000 Canadian for camera, tripod, lighting, audio, and editing software/hardware.

If this does end up being a sketchy seller, anyone have advice for working with this kind of budget?

If it's much under $5,000 then it's fake. Simple as that. If it's under $4800 it's absolutely unquestionably completely fake (or gray market or whatever). But there is no authorized dealer anywhere in the US selling at $4800 or less, that I know of. Cheapest I've ever seen from an authorized dealer is $4995.

Not only is that a great deal, it is below dealer cost. Don't expect the seller to honor that deal, or not screw you in some way. They don't have a score on ResellerRatings.com, so they may just have popped up.

Last week I was quoted by someone at AVS (rather not say a name), said they would give me an HVX for $4702, shipped. That was after the dvxuser discount and me working them for all I could. They are also on the authorized dealers list and when I ask them, they said they were.

Anyone?

It wouldn't be the first time that an authorized dealer sold a grey market product, or a used camera. This price falls into that "too good to be true category.

order it on your credit card. they say they take VISA over the phone for ebay deals. They will prob try to upsell you when you call. refuse the upsell. if its not as advertised do a chargeback on your card and hit their ebay feedback with negative.
Hmm so whos gonna pull the trigger first. heres another one.....almost too many now to be a fluke

Stay away from any dealer located in brooklyn, too risky!

Jan,

It's real scary to know that some authorized dealers are selling grey market goods, $5K is a lot of money...

Is their any way to call Panasonic with a serial # (that I would get from the dealer) and have them check it out before buying? Does Panasonic offer this service? If so, what #/department would I call?

Ok, well I know rule of thumb is to buy it from an authorized dealer, but what about Amazon (see product). The supplier has a great customer service ranking and it is much less than many of other dealers. What do you think?

Buying the camera on eBay will not be a good experience, and frankly when the vendor has 8000+reviews, one bad review isn't going to make a difference. What you will have is a gray market camera with no warranty.

Best,

Jan

No we do not offer this service. You should ask your vendor, why is his price so cheap. Do you live near him? The going price for the camera is in the neighbor hood of $5000.

Best,

Jan
