Where to buy the HVX: a small guide.

I got my HVX200 from Omega Broadcast in Austin. They treated me well, and were quite flexible on the products that I wanted. Gave me a great price on the HVX (best price I've seen anywhere from an authorized dealer). They were not dealers on some of the equipment, but became dealers for those products I wanted. I appreciated their service and response. Great experience all around!

I worked with Danielle Hartzog. Tell her Corey sent ya!

i have a question about a Grey Market HVX. Considering the fact that the item does not come with the American rebates or warranties, does the thing still work just like the American HVX200p? I am looking at dbuys.com and they have the HVX for 4100, i handle my equipment with so much care that over the past 3 professional cameras i have owned never had to use the warranties on them, so in the end if the cameras from the grey market community still work the same, it is a good deal isnt it?

Grey market = buyer beware. reselleratings gives them 0.00 out of 10 for the last 6 months. They have screwed each customer royally. My advice is don't throw your money away. A lot of those places have things like $800 order cancellation fees if you change your mind, and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Here is a good FAQ on Grey Market.

If you want to save some money on a camera and you don't want to buy new, we have two B-Stock cameras available. They each come with a 90-day warranty. One comes with all original accesories including box and manual, $4299. The second one comes with everything that the first one does except for the battery charger, $4199.

Let me just chime in my 2 cents on Spec Comm

It was a friday morning, I wired Spec Comm the funds... Their extremely personalized service would always answer the phone ont he first ring and remember your name/order every time... They were able to provide Overnight and Saturday UPS service.... I had the camera within 19 hours of ordering.

If I had more arms I'd give more thumbs up, but all I can do is 2... I'd recomend them time and time over.

I just got a camera and fire store FS-100 at Roscor.com, an authorized dealer. Great people to work with, and great price on camera! Fast shipping! Just two days!

Adorama is not an authorized dealer. At times they buy US product from a distribution channel and sometimes they don't. So you could preface your purchase with the requirment that they take it back if it isn't a US unit.

Good Luck,

Jan

Yeah! Especially Sonic Cameras, they are a bunch of swindlers, tried to upsell me like crazy, then placed my original order on a 6-month to indefinate backorder when I didn't bite. Buyer beware!

did you receive the HVX205 or 200? That link notes that it's a 205 which I thought was a PAL unit (?)

So an interesting situation came up this week from a customer that bought an HPX175. He wanted to upgrade his camera to work with the new E series card. Since the only posted links for the 175 are in Japanese, I had to tell him that I really didn't know how to help him other than to send him to our service center who could probably do the upgrade for him, but would likely charge him.

Hadn't really thought of that particular issue before.
