& the teaser poster...

Nice Poster Justin, makes me want to buy a watch... er watch the buy... dang it... I mean, watch the movie.

Great Colors.

I wish I had a watch like that too. Perhaps someone will see this film one day and think... That's a swell watch. Then, all the sudden they'll be out on the market in no time.

Yes... The Rebellion is Near.

thanks guys! It'll be a fun little film to shoot. It's coming together nicely.

Just had another meeting last night about the script. I'm on the 4th re-write now so hopefully this is a good sign. Scripts apparently are a rarity to nail it with the first draft. Although it is 'clear as purple crayon' to me, others seem to be a little confused on the backstory. So... I guess my vision is hard to transcribe down on paper. So, I think this is an occasion where "Less is More".

BUT... the good thing about a complex backstory is that this could very well eventually turn into a feature so hey... Something good is definitely brewing within.

Edgen, the reason things are clear to you when you read the script, is because you already have all the details in your head. When someone fresh looks at it, things often don't make sense because they only know what is actually written on the page. It can be pretty eye opening to have someone look at what you've written and see just how far their understanding is from what you intended.

Love what you've got so far!

Justin, love the poster, watch, banner, et al!

On a different note, just watched your film CRAVEN. That was REALLY fun! Great acting as well. Loved it. When did you make it?

Cool! thanks Norm. :)

Craven was shot this past Oct. It has been finished for a while now but I never got a chance to finally throw down the final touches and the credits until recently. Plus, Manuel (who plays craven in the film) has signed up to score some of these spy films so I wanted to showcase some of his music skills. So it was just an excuse to finally get it finished.

It was fun to do. on the fly point and shoot with china balls. :) Gawd bless the china balls.

I know VERY little about lighting ... always hear great things about China Balls, however. Feel free to give me a quick tutorial in here, if you like.

Manuel ... is he the composer going by Manuu (or something like that)? The music was great ... had some nice fun/comical moments as well. I thought it was especially cool that a composer had another composer score their own film.

Yes.. Manuel Matschke is going by "Manuu" here on the DVX forums. He flew in from Germany and was here for about 2 months staying various places here in LA. (wish I had the guts when I was that young) Anyway, while he was here, i was teaching him what I knew about film scoring and during that time, I had him write a few scenes on Alex Depew's "Memories" for horrorfest, and another film called, "The Roman" while he was here.

But, I wanted him to work on a specific piece all on his own, so I called up Matt and Susan and we came up with quick script, busted out the DVX and kablamo. Edited and had him score it.

Lighting? Nothing really. I think we had three china balls on a on a dimmer switches along with one of Matt's lights with a blue gel as the 'moon' and another to light up the bushes behind us. You can tell we had everything going out of one circuit because there's this dumbass hiss going on in various places. Oh well.

Yes.. I'm all for other composers scoring my films. I'm pretty easy to get along with I think when it comes to that stuff. I'm probably my own worst enemy.

What did he come out to LA for, if you were teaching him what you knew about film scoring? I'm going to assume he's already pretty talented/gifted ... or else, I'll just call you for what you are (the greatest & fastest teacher in the world), and then fly down to take lessons from you myself!

Looking forward to seeing Matt in this one too ... he's got a great look (leading man kind of look - hope that doesn't sound too ... ahem, gay), and has great talent on screen as well.

ha!! Ya, I think Matt's gonna do a great job on this piece. Since I've worked with him on so many projects already I know it's going to be a breeze. I'll probably especially hard on him as his character has huge range of emotions to tap into.

Manuel was looking into moving out to LA in a year or so, and he wanted to scout the area. So, his aunt lives here and from a mutal connection that's how they recommend me. So, of course, I was all for giving a helping hand and show anyone who's interested in this stuff. He's got a great rock/metal background and is a friggin' genius on the guitar. So, I'm definitely going to use his talents on my future projects. He's a long haired Hans Zimmer. :)

I heard rumors that people are talking about me in this topic... ;o)

Hey Norman, I'm happy you like Craven. We definitely had a lot of fun with the shootings. I really like your films. R.E.M. is just awesome as well as Where Silence Falls which has a very profound background in my opinion ;o) Keep going that work!

Well, We're (me & my girlfriend) just waiting/working to get the money together and then we'll come over! I really hope that we're gonna make it by the end of this year or beginning of next year. Ya Justin, I'm sure we'll rock away many scores in the near future. May the earth be prepared.... ;o)

Manuel

Justin,

I found a place in LA in exactly 7 days. You'll find what you want in the price range you need. Places are constantly popping up for rent, you won't be at a loss for where to live. I love the poster, do ours! lol

Your poster is great, Justin. You've always delivered great work, in each and every fest, I'm really looking forward to your film.
