Selling my XLH1

Hey D,

How are you going to work with the Marshall monitor now? Will you be buying a component to SDI adapter?

Just curious.

B

I sold the HDSDI Marshall and replaced it with the HDA model so it will work great with the XHA1.

Yeah Jack, maybe on Spyfest, I'll have to see how my time goes.

I just got the HDA yesterday - wow.

Call Nebtek and they will sell you bag of the little mounting plates for 29.99 so you don't have to remove those three little screws and re-attach the mounting plate to the otherside every time you wan to use it. There are 3 in a pack, I bet you could go in with 2 other users and chain ship the 2nd and 3rd mounts.

Congrats on selling you camera Steven. I hope the A1 is everything you hope for and a bag of chips. I am in the middle of editing a wedding that I shot with the A1several months back and I have to say it is very impressive. However, I still feel like the H1 produces a slightly better image. I didn't use a WA adapter with the A1 but several of the shots show softness around the edges. Granted, I was wide open whenever possible as the lights were dim. But overall I still like the image from the H1 a little better.

Plus....a huge factor is that I love using the manual lens which holds its aperture through the entire zoom range. The H1 stock lens does not and the A1 doesn't either. Barlow and I discussed this several times and he also noticed a more rapid falloff of iris on the A1. I think the wider lens makes it so you wide open aperture gets cut in half by the time you are halfway through the zoom, where as the H1 stock lens cuts in half more like 3/4 of the way through the zoom. The 16x manual of course hold its aperture all the way to full tele.

THe good news is that in good lighting and shooting conditions the A1's footage is indistinguishable from the H1. I just feel that when it gets down to the slightly darker and more questionable lighting situations the H1 pulls ahead of the A1 considerably.

I totally understand the desire for a smaller camera at times! But I also shoot for clients that need to be "impressed" by the H1 form factor.

Good Luck!

If I could afford it I would have my HVX and an A1.
One for convenience and to pay the rent with event work. One to maka ze movies with. You can guess which is which and it's all about media storage to $ at this point.
